A cylindrical metasurface antenna
2017 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation & USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting, 2017We introduce a cylindrical metasurface antenna highly suitable for wireless communication towers. The antenna was designed to operate at 7.2 GHz. The design concept is based on constructive phase interference arising from the radiation of all elements comprising the metasurface.

The study on the antenna with metasurface
2016 Progress in Electromagnetic Research Symposium (PIERS), 2016The optimized metasurface layer is introduced into antenna design, which is generated by dividing a 2-D rectangular area into some grids, then the initial 2-D chromosome population is produced randomly. The size of population is the number of grids, “1” represent the metallized areas and “0” represent the areas without metal.

Metasurfaces for antennas and sensors
2016 IEEE Radio and Antenna Days of the Indian Ocean (RADIO), 2016The engineering of metasurfaces for antenna and sensing applications is studied. The metasurfaces composed of LC-resonant cells, are designed to achieve either phase modulation or high quality factor resonances. While the phase modulated metasurface used as a superstrate in a Fabry-Perot cavity antenna, shows the capability to steer the radiated beam ...

Time-Switched Metasurface Antenna
2024 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and INC/USNC‐URSI Radio Science Meeting (AP-S/INC-USNC-URSI)This contribution presents the analysis and design of a novel class of metasurface-based antennas, whose radiative capabilities are enabled by the properties of the temporal and time-switched metamaterials. In particular, we consider a thin metasurface supporting the propagation of a surface wave that can switch instantaneously its surface impedance ...

Metasurface mantle cloak for antenna applications
Proceedings of the 2012 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation, 2012In this work, we exploit the mantle cloak technique to minimize the scattering of a receiving electric dipole antenna at its resonance frequency. Theoretical limitations of the proposed setup are analyzed. Furthermore, we show how our approach can be successfully used to dramatically reduce the blockage effects between two electrically close dipole ...

Beam Scanning Metasurface Antennas
2018 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation & USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting, 2018Metasurface (MTS)antennas have been shown to be a versatile class of planar antenna. In particular, they allow for beam shaping and pattern control through the modulation of the boundary conditions, while keeping unchanged the overall antenna structure. This feature makes them suitable for dynamic reconfiguration.

A Polarization-Reconfigurable Metasurface Antenna
2019 International Workshop on Electromagnetics: Applications and Student Innovation Competition (iWEM), 2019A metasurface antenna with left-handed circularly polarized (LHCP) and right-handed circularly polarized (RHCP) polarization reconfigurability performance is proposed in this paper. The simulated results manifest that the impedance bandwidth less than −10dB and the 3dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth are 3.59GHz~4.04GHz (11.8%) and 3.58GHz~4.11GHz (13.8 ...

Metantennas: MultiFunctional Metasurface Antennas
2019 IEEE-APS Topical Conference on Antennas and Propagation in Wireless Communications (APWC), 2019Metasurfaces have been widely investigated for antenna design and wave manipulation. As electromagnetic (EM) phenomena are frequency dependent, it is possible to achieve multiple functionalities at the different operating frequencies using a metasurface, namely multifunctional metasurface (MFMS).
