Antigenic Relationship of Methanococcus frisius

Systematic and Applied Microbiology, 1989
Summary Evidence is presented here that Methanococcus frisius is related to the genus Methanosarcina . Studies of this methanogenic bacterium by immunological methods revealed a close relationship to Methanosarcina mazei S6 and Methanosarcina thermophila TM1.

Global analysis of a “simple” proteome: Methanococcus jannaschii

Journal of Chromatography B, 2002
The completed genome of Methanococcus jannaschii, including the main chromosome and two extra-chromosomal elements, predicts a proteome comprised of 1783 proteins. How many of those proteins are expressed at any given time and the relative abundance of the expressed proteins, however, cannot be predicted solely from the genome sequence. Two-dimensional

The biosynthesis of cysteine and homocysteine in Methanococcus jannaschii

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 2003
The pathway for the biosynthesis of cysteine and homocysteine in Methanococcus jannaschii has been examined using a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) stable isotope dilution method to identify and quantitate the intermediates in the pathways.

Crystal structure of LeuD from Methanococcus jannaschii

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2012
3-Isopropylmalate/citramalate (IPM) isomerase catalyzes the second step in the leucine biosynthesis pathway. IPM isomerase from Methanococcus jannaschii is a complex protein consisting of a large (MjLeuC) and a small subunit (MjLeuD). It has broad substrate specificity, unlike other bacterial IPM isomerases.

Activation mechanism of HSP16.5 from Methanococcus jannaschii

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2003
The small heat shock proteins are the ubiquitous proteins found in a wide range of organisms and function as molecular chaperones by binding to the folding intermediates of their substrates. Although the crystal structure of HSP16.5, a small heat shock protein from Methanococcus jannaschii, revealed that it is a hollow sphere composed of 24 identical ...
