Poisoning of amino- and nitrocompounds of benzene |in occupational pathology

open access: yesМедицина неотложных состояний, 2022
Amino- and nitrocompounds of benzene belong to the group of blood poisons. They lead to the formation of pathological hemoglobin compounds in the blood. Methemoglobin is formed during poisoning of amino- and nitrocompounds of benzene.

Notes on Methemoglobin Determination

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 1960
Abstract The Evelyn-Malloy procedure for the determination of methemoglobin in blood has been modified for use with a Coleman Jr. spectrophotometer by using a lower dilution of blood to reduce the effective instrument error from a possible 10 per cent to a possible 3 per cent.

Methemoglobinemia induced by chlorphenamidine [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
A 76-year old farmer ingested 100 g of chlorphenamidine (Galectron), a plant acaricle, for the purpose of suicide. Gastric lavage was performed and the patient survived.

Differential intestinal injury and unchanged systemic inflammatory responses to leg and whole‐body passive hyperthermia in healthy humans

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Hyperthermia can cause intestinal injury, facilitating endotoxin translocation and an inflammatory response that has been associated with heat illness. However, the potential occurrence of these responses has been incompletely reported during passive hyperthermia, and the independent effect of hyperthermia is equivocal.

Do all patients with acquired methemoglobinemia need treatment? A lesson learnt [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Community Hospital Internal Medicine Perspectives, 2015
Acquired methemoglobinemia is a medical emergency, and its prompt recognition and treatment can avoid catastrophic complications including death. However, in mild asymptomatic cases without any comorbid conditions, it would be reasonable to simply ...

Increases in skin perfusion and blood oxygen in the non‐exercising human limbs during exercise in the heat: Implications for control of circulation

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Blood flow in the inactive limb tissues and skin is widely thought to decline during incremental exercise to exhaustion due to augmented sympathoadrenal vasoconstrictor activity, but direct evidence to support this view is lacking. Here, we investigated the inactive‐forearm haemodynamic (Q̇forearm${\dot{Q}}_{\mathrm{forearm}}$) and oxygenation

Butamirate citrate associated methemoglobinemia

open access: yesTungs’ Medical Journal, 2023
Methemoglobinemia is a potentially life-threatening disease resulting from high blood levels of methemoglobin resulting in failure of binding and delivery of oxygen to tissues.

Evaluation of the Diagnostic Accuracy of the Quantitative Point‐of‐Care SD Biosensor Standard G6PD Test for Assessment of G6PD Deficiency in Infectious Diseases

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, Volume 48, Issue 2, Page 440-446, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background G6PD deficiency affects about 500 million people worldwide and is prevalent in many malaria‐endemic settings. People with G6PD deficiency are at risk of hemolysis when exposed to certain medications, including 8‐aminoquinoline drugs used to treat Plasmodium vivax malaria.

Reduced Nitrates/Nitrites and Natural Additives in Organic Fermented Dry‐Cured Sausages: Effects on Microbiological Safety, Quality, and Consumer Acceptance

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT This study examines hydroxytyrosol (HXT), a natural antioxidant, as a partial substitute for curing agents in fermented dry‐cured organic sausages. Increasing health concerns regarding nitrates/nitrites, along with EU efforts to reduce their use, highlight the need for alternatives.
