Short Term Effect of Nitrous Oxide on Methionine and S-Adenosyl Methionine Concentrations [PDF]

open access: yesSurvey of anesthesiology, 1989
Concentrations of methionine and S-adenosyl methionine (SAM) have been measured in various tissues of rats exposed to 50% nitrous oxide for periods up to 80 min, a time by which there is detectable interference with thymidine synthesis in bone marrow. There were no significant changes of either SAM or methionine in plasma, whole blood or brain. Hepatic

Decreased Phosphorylation and Increased Methionine Oxidation of α-Synuclein in the Methionine Sulfoxide Reductase A Knockout Mouse [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Previously, we have showed that overexpression of methionine-oxidized α-synuclein in methionine sulfoxide reductase A (MsrA) null mutant yeast cells inhibits α-synuclein

Remote Activation of Wnt Signaling and Cell Proliferation by E‐Cadherin Magnetomechanical Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A pioneering magnetogenetic toolkit enables non‐invasive, precise spatiotemporal modulation of intracellular Wnt/β‐catenin signaling. Functionalized magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs@E/EC15) target cellular E‐cadherins to generate localized magnetomechanical forces under low‐intensity magnetic fields.

Methionine oxidation activates a transcription factor in response to oxidative stress [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2013
Oxidant-mediated antibacterial response systems are broadly used to control bacterial proliferation. Hypochlorite (HOCl) is an important component of the innate immune system produced in neutrophils and specific epithelia. Its antimicrobial activity is due to damaging cellular macromolecules.

Probing Electrocatalyst Design for Product Selectivity in CO2 Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Selective CO2 electroreduction is controlled by catalyst structure, dynamic surface reconstruction, adsorbate interactions, and reaction microenvironment. This review summarizes Cu‐ and non‐Cu‐based catalysts, single‐atom and molecular systems, degradation pathways, and operando/computational strategies for steering CO2RR toward hydrocarbons ...

m6A‐Driven Pexophagy Triggers Placental Ferroptosis to Impair Fetal Growth Upon Environmental Stress

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Prenatal environmental stress exposure promotes m6A modification to drive PEX2‐dependent pexophagy, thereby causing placental ferroptosis and FGR. ABSTRACT The role and underlying mechanisms of placental ferroptosis in fetal growth restriction (FGR) induced by environmental stress remain poorly understood.
