Rate of endogenous methionine oxidation in rats at different levels of methionine intake [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Nutrition, 1983
1. The fractional rates of loss of 14C and body-weight were measured in growing female rats after a single dose of [1-14C]methionine. After the dose, the rats were maintained for 30 d on diets containing graded amounts of methionine and killed at 30 d.2. By 20 d after the dose the level of labelling of body proteins was fairly uniform. From 20 to 30 d,

Metabolites of ethanol as markers of alcohol abuse : glutathione consumption and methionine kinetics in humans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
In the course of the present doctoral studies two projects related to research in alcoholism and relevant for the postgraduate formation of a pharmacist were pursued: one project dealt with the development of analytical tools applicable to the ...

Monitoring of methionine oxidation with fluorescent proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Methionine (Met) oxidation to methionine sulfoxide (MetO) is a post-translational protein modification that can appear unspecifically during exposure of Met to oxidants in normal growth and oxidative stress, such as occurring in aged organisms and in ...

Metastatic niche shaped by host factors influences disseminated cancer cell fate

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Metastasis is shaped not only by cancer cells but also by the environments they encounter. This review explores how factors such as aging, diet, the microbiome, lifestyle, and environmental exposures remodel organ‐specific niches in the lung, liver, bone, and brain, influencing where metastatic cells survive, remain dormant, or grow, and ultimately ...

Smaller is better: nanobodies meet NMR

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nanobodies are single‐domain antigen‐binding fragments derived from camelid heavy chain antibodies. Their small size, high stability, and exceptional specificity make nanobodies uniquely useful probes for NMR studies of protein dynamics, transient conformational states, and protein–protein interactions.

DNA ligase LigE increases bacterial transformation with damaged extracellular DNA

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The DNA ligase LigE from the naturally competent Gram‐negative bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoaea increases transformation with cut extracellular DNA. This process is ATP‐dependent and relies on the catalytic activity of LigE; it also requires that LigE contains an intact periplasmic localisation sequence, indicating that ligE functions in the periplasm ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Kinetics and mechanism of oxidation of methionine by chloramine-T in alkaline medium in presence of OsO4 catalyst [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Kinetics and mechanism of oxidation of D-L methionine (Met) by sodium N-chlorotoluene-p-sulphanamide (CBT) in alkaline medium in presence of OsO4 catalyst have been investigated at 30 degrees C, and the results are compared to the reaction without Os ...
