Residual Stress States in Microstructurally Graded PBF–LB/M Austenitic Steel Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines microstructurally graded 316L rectangular tube profiles fabricated via PBF–LB/M using a dual‐laser system. A 1 kW top‐hat and a 400 W Gaussian laser create distinct grain sizes and crystallographic texture. Mechanical properties are linked to microstructural evolution driven by processing conditions.

A Method to Determine the Necessary Thickness of a Corner Bracket

open access: yesJournal of the Society of Naval Architects of Japan, 1982
In this paper, a method to calculate the necessary thickness of a right-angled triangular corner bracket proposed in the previous paper is extended to more general case. First, the effect of a flange attached to the bracket is considered from a viewpoint of the buckling and ultimate strength of the bracket, and the simple formula is proposed to ...

Impact of Various Rotary Friction Welding Process Parameters on the Mechanical Properties of a Steel–Aluminum Joint

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Rotary friction welding of steel E355 and the aluminum alloy EN AW‐6082 can lead to the formation of brittle intermetallic phases. The primary process parameters are varied in order to determine their influence on this intermetallic phase formation and the resulting mechanical properties.

On a Method of Calculation of Bracketed Structures

open access: yesJournal of Zosen Kiokai, 1958
On the calculation of bending moments of bracketed structures, various results of investigations based upon the consideration that bracketed beams were regarded as beams with variable sections have been published. The author applied the theory of the wedge in bracket parts, obtained various formulas on bracketed beams and showed the method of the ...
