Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

The Quadrature Method of Moments (QMoM) is applied to a one-dimensional test case for sedimentation of raindrops. Comparison of the results with a reference spectral method exhibits discrepancies (“step patterns”) that must be considered as modeling ...

Accurate object reconstruction by statistical moments [PDF]
Statistical moments can offer a powerful means for object description in object sequences. Moments used in this way provide a description of the changing shape of the object with time.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

A radically different method of moments
The four primary moment-based probability density estimation and associated moment-based parameter estimation methods used in classical statistical inference when the probability density functions for the observed data are unknown or are intractable are ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

A method for estimating the power of moments
Let X be an observable random variable with unknown distribution function F(x)=P(X≤x) $F(x) = \mathbb{P}(X \leq x)$, −∞

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
