Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Weakly regular Floquet Hamiltonians with pure point spectrum

open access: yes, 2001
We study the Floquet Hamiltonian: -i omega d/dt + H + V(t) as depending on the parameter omega. We assume that the spectrum of H is discrete, {h_m (m = 1..infinity)}, with h_m of multiplicity M_m.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Multikernel Graph Structure Learning for Multispectral Point Cloud Classification

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Multispectral point cloud, with spatial and multiple-band spectral information, provides the data basis for finer land cover 3-D classification. However, spectral information is not well utilized by traditional methods of point cloud classification ...

Wide baseline stereo matching with convex bounded-distortion constraints

open access: yes, 2015
Finding correspondences in wide baseline setups is a challenging problem. Existing approaches have focused largely on developing better feature descriptors for correspondence and on accurate recovery of epipolar line constraints.

Development of Spectral Hazard Map for Indonesia with a Return Period of 2500 Years using Probabilistic Method

open access: yesCivil Engineering Dimension, 2010
This study is performed to develop spectral hazard map for Indonesia with a Return Period of 2500 years earthquake. It will be proposed for revision of the Indonesian hazard map in SNI-03-1726-2002 as response to the meeting organized by the Department of Public Works on 27- October-2008 in Jakarta.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

A Low-Dimensional Representation for Robust Partial Isometric Correspondences Computation

open access: yes, 2014
Intrinsic isometric shape matching has become the standard approach for pose invariant correspondence estimation among deformable shapes. Most existing approaches assume global consistency, i.e., the metric structure of the whole manifold must not change

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
