An expedient strategy for the diversity-oriented synthesis of macrocyclic compounds with natural product-like characteristics [PDF]
Naturally-derived macrocyclic compounds are associated with a diverse range of biological activities, including antibacterial effects, and there are over 100 marketed macrocycle drugs derived from natural products.

On the history and use of some standard statistical models
This paper tries to tell the story of the general linear model, which saw the light of day 200 years ago, and the assumptions underlying it. We distinguish three principal stages (ignoring earlier more isolated instances). The model was first proposed in

Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...

Luminescent ionic liquid crystals based on stilbazolium moieties
Liquid crystals have become pivotally important to a variety of image displaying technologies. They have drawn much attention due to their ability to confer luminescent properties to a wide spectrum of image based devices. The purpose of this research is

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (

Interdisciplinary Relationships Between Biological and Physical Sciences [PDF]
Several interdisciplinary areas have appeared at the interface between biological and physical sciences. In this work, we suggest a complex network-based methodology for analyzing the interrelationships between some of these interdisciplinary areas, including Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biochemistry, among others.

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and

A temporal logic approach to modular design of synthetic biological circuits [PDF]
We present a new approach for the design of a synthetic biological circuit whose behaviour is specified in terms of signal temporal logic (STL) formulae. We first show how to characterise with STL formulae the input/output behaviour of biological modules miming the classical logical gates (AND, NOT, OR).
