Exploring the Charge Compensation Mechanism of P2-Type Na0.6Mg0.3Mn0.7O2 Cathode Materials for Advanced Sodium-Ion Batteries

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
P2-type sodium layered transition metal oxides have been intensively investigated as promising cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) by virtue of their high specific capacity and high operating voltage.

Identification of gene pathways implicated in Alzheimer's disease using longitudinal imaging phenotypes with sparse regression. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present a new method for the detection of gene pathways associated with a multivariate quantitative trait, and use it to identify causal pathways associated with an imaging endophenotype characteristic of longitudinal structural change in the brains ...

Electric Power Loss Minimization in Power Supply Systems for the Suburban Houses [PDF]

open access: yesProblems of the Regional Energetics, 2018
The main purpose of the research is the development and improvement of methods for minimizing power losses for non-sinusoidal and asymmetric modes of operation of power supply systems for suburban houses.

Quantitative Analysis of Cell Motility and Chemotaxis in Dictyostelium discoideum by Using an Image Processing System and a Novel Chemotaxis Chamber Providing Stationary Chemical Gradients

open access: yes, 1989
An image processing system was programmed to automatically track and digitize the movement of amebae under phase-contrast microscopy. The amebae moved in a novel chemotaxis chamber designed to provide stable linear attractant gradients in a thin agarose ...

Flows of singular vector fields and applications to fluid and kinetic equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Several physical phenomena arising in fluid dynamics and kinetic equations can be modeled by nonlinear transport PDE. Such quantities are the vorticity of a fluid, or the density of a collection of particles advected by a velocity field which is highly ...

Theoretical studies on the all-anti zigzag geometries of perfluoro-n-alkyl chains

open access: yes, 2010
Theoretical investigations were conducted on the gas phase all-anti zigzag geometries of C~3~ through C~7~ perfluoro-n-alkanes and the perfluoro-n-octanoate anion using various semiempirical, density functional theory, and composite method approaches ...

Relationship Between QT Interval and Outcome in Low‐Flow Low‐Gradient Aortic Stenosis With Low Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2016
BackgroundQT interval has been shown to be associated with cardiovascular events. There is no data regarding the association between QT interval and left ventricular (LV) function and prognosis in patients with low LV ejection fraction (LVEF), low‐flow ...

Color-coded summation images for the evaluation of blood flow in endovascular aortic dissection fenestration

open access: yesBMC Medical Imaging, 2022
Background To analyze the benefit of color-coded summation images in the assessment of target lumen perfusion in patients with aortic dissection and malperfusion syndrome before and after fluoroscopy-guided aortic fenestration.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
