Dual‐Interface‐Dominant Cathode Architectures Enabling Fast Sulfur Redox and Stable Interfaces in All‐Solid‐State Li‐S Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An optimized carbon host nanostructure enables a dual‐interface‐dominant architecture in sulfur cathodes of solid‐state Li‐S batteries by selectively forming sulfur|carbon and sulfur|solid electrolyte interfaces. This tailored interfacial configuration accelerates sulfur redox kinetics by establishing enriched Li+/e– transport networks, while ...

Nontargeted biomonitoring of halogenated organic compounds in two ecotypes of bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) from the Southern California Bight. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Targeted environmental monitoring reveals contamination by known chemicals, but may exclude potentially pervasive but unknown compounds. Marine mammals are sentinels of persistent and bioaccumulative contaminants due to their longevity and high trophic ...

Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...

Profiling of volatile compounds in four Egyptian date cultivars

open access: yesПищевые системы
Volatile compound plays an important role in consumers’ satisfaction and influences further consumption of the date fruit. Thus, the study analyzed the volatile compounds of three date fruit cultivars: Barhy, Samani, Zaghloul at khalal stage of ripeness (

Efficient Synthesis of a Range of 1-Hydroxy-2-(1-Alkyloxymethyl)-9,10-Anthraquinone Derivatives [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 1995
Five new 1-hydroxy-2-(1-alkyloxymethyl)-9,10-Anthraquinones (9a-e) have been prepared. Selective nitration of 2-methyl-9,10-anthraquinone, reduction to the corresponding amine, diazotization and treatment by sulfuric acid solution afforded the 1-hydroxy ...

Conversion of fatty aldehyde dimethyl acetals to the corresponding alk-1-enyl methyl ethers (substituted vinyl ethers) during gas-liquid chromatography

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1967
The behavior of palmitaldehyde and linolealdehyde and of their dimethyl acetals during gas-liquid chromatography on Β-cyclodextrin acetate (Β-CDX acetate) and ethylene glycol succinate polyester-phosphoric acid (EGSP) columns was studied.

Mimicking Block Copolymer Self‐Assembly with One‐Pot Synthesized Polyphosphoester Gradient Copolymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Degradable Polyphosphoester (PPE) gradient copolymers (GCPs) are synthesized via one‐pot copolymerization. We show that GCPs self‐assemble into nanostructures like polymersomes, effectively mimicking the behavior of traditional BCPs. The gradient strength is key, with softer gradients favoring micelles.

In-Solution Conformational Analysis of the XCYCH3 Moiety for Small Esters and Ethers with all Combinations of X, Y = O, S

open access: yesMolecules, 2013
Favorable steric and electrostatic fit of a ligand to a receptor is of central interest in theoretical drug design. This paper considers the effects of non-protic solvents, in comparison with the gas phase, on the preferred conformation of the XCYCH3 ...

Nickel-Mediated Hydrogenolysis of C–O Bonds of Aryl Ethers: What Is the Source of the Hydrogen? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Mechanistic studies of the hydrogenolysis of aryl ethers by nickel were undertaken with (diphosphine)aryl methyl ethers. A Ni(0) complex containing Ni–arene interactions adjacent to the aryl–O bond was isolated.
