Unexpected Formation of α -(N-Methyl)-aminoalkanephosphonate

Phosphorus, Sulfur, and Silicon and the Related Elements, 1990
Abstract In contrary to a known2 reaction of 2H-azirines with triethyl phosphite in the presence of ethanol, prolonged heating of 5,5-dimethyl-1-pyrroline 1 (or its 1-oxide) with trimethyl phosphite in methanolic medium yields a new ester 4 δH(ccl4) 0.86 and 1.12 (2×Me, 2×s), 2.35 (NMe,s), 3.68, and 3.75 (2×OMe,2×d,J=10.3 and 9.9 Hz)

A comparative ab initio study of methyl formate, methyl thiolformate and methyl thionoformate

Journal of Molecular Structure: THEOCHEM, 1987
Ab initio SCF-MO calculations have been carried out for HCOOCH3, HC(O)SCH3 and HC(S)OCH3. Relative stabilities of s-trans/s-cis conformers are reported and discussed in terms of specific intramolecular interactions. The energy difference between the s-trans and the s-cis form increases in the order methyl thiolformate < methyl thionoformate < methyl ...

Formation of methyl methacrylate from methyl propionate and methanol

Catalysis Today, 2006
Abstract The formation of methyl methacrylate (MMA) was studied in a vapor-phase reaction between methyl propionate (MP) and methanol without using any sources of formaldehyde. Silica-supported CsOH doped with a small amount of silver Ag was found to be the best catalyst. The optimum Ag/Cs/Si atomic ratio was 4–10/20–25/1000.

Lecithin formation by methylation of intact phosphatidyl dimethylethanolamine

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1960
S>Results are reported from tracer studies of lecithin formation by methylation of intact phosphatidyl dimethylethanolamine (DME). After incubation of C/sup 14/ labeled DME with rat liver slices, the isotope was found to be present in the DME as well as in the choline moiety of the phospholipids. Results are tabulated from typical experiments. Possible

A study of the raman non-coincidence effect from methyl formate / methyl d-formate solutions

Journal of Molecular Liquids, 1997
Abstract The Raman Non-Coincidence Effect (NCE) of the carbonyl stretching band of methyl formate as a pure liquid and diluted in methyl d-formate has been studied. A theoretical model of the behaviour of the NCE with isotopic dilution has been proposed by Logan (1). Logan's model was tested and found to agree with the experimental data.

High-Temperature Measurements of the Reactions of OH with Small Methyl Esters: Methyl Formate, Methyl Acetate, Methyl Propanoate, and Methyl Butanoate

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2012
The overall rate constants for the reactions of hydroxyl radicals (OH) with four small methyl esters, namely methyl formate (CH(3)OCHO), methyl acetate (CH(3)OC(O)CH(3)), methyl propanoate (CH(3)OC(O)C(2)H(5)), and methyl butanoate (CH(3)OC(O)C(3)H(7)), were investigated behind reflected shock waves using UV laser absorption of OH radicals near 306.69 ...

A vibrational assignment for methyl formate and methyl acetate

Journal of Molecular Spectroscopy, 1957
Abstract The infrared spectra of methyl formate and methyl acetate in the vapor phase and as solutions in CS 2 and CCl 4 have been obtained from 3–34 μ. Assignments of the fundamental vibrational frequencies have been made for both molecules with the exception of the type a ″ torsional frequencies.

Methyl Formate Formation from Methanol Oxidation Using Supported Gold–Palladium Nanoparticles

ACS Catalysis, 2014
Recent advances in the oxidation of alcohols to methyl esters using metal nanoparticles have paved the way for more environmentally benign processes, operating at lower reaction temperatures with high product selectivity. Here, we demonstrate the use of bimetallic 1 wt % Au–Pd/TiO2 catalysts that achieve high activity for the oxidation of methanol to ...

DNA Methylation in Memory Formation

2012
The mechanism by which behavioral memories are able to endure in a structure as dynamic as the brain is a long-standing mystery of cognition. For example, a memory must survive, by some mechanism, the ongoing replacement of the proteins that were initially responsible for its formation.
