Draft Genome of Pseudomonas sp. Strain 11/12A, Isolated from Lake Washington Sediment. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We announce here the genome sequencing of Pseudomonas sp. strain 11/12A from Lake Washington sediment. From the genome content, a versatile lifestyle is predicted but not one of bona fide methylotrophy.

Multiscale Perspectives on Perovskite Instability: From Atomistic Deformation to Device Degradation in Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Multiscale perspectives on how excess charges in soft lead halide perovskites induce operational instability in photovoltaic devices are presented. Localized carriers formed under thermodynamic non‐equilibrium states modify atomistic interactions and drive lattice distortions, accelerating device degradation.

A Surprisingly High Enhancing Potential of Nitric Acid in Sulfuric Acid–Methylamine Nucleation

open access: yesAtmosphere
Nitric acid (NA) has recently been found to enhance sulfuric acid (SA)-driven new particle formation (NPF) at low temperatures (≤240 K). However, studies on the role of NA in atmospheric NPF remain limited.

Triazido[tris(2-pyridyl-κN)methylamine]cobalt(III)

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2008
The title compound, [Co(N3)3(C16H14N4)], was synthesized by hydrothermal reaction of [Co(NH3)6](NO3)3, NaN3 and tris(2-pyridyl)methylamine. The structure contains two independent complexes in the asymmetric unit, with closely comparable geometry.

Testing the ability of non-methylamine osmolytes present in kidney cells to counteract the deleterious effects of urea on structure, stability and function of proteins. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Human kidney cells are under constant urea stress due to its urine concentrating mechanism. It is believed that the deleterious effect of urea is counteracted by methylamine osmolytes (glycine betaine and glycerophosphocholine) present in kidney cells. A

14C-Methylamine-glutaraldehyde conjugation as an alternative to iodination for protein labeling

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2003
Radiolabeling of native proteins conventionally has required iodination using 125Iodine (125I). Although radioiodination can result in high specific activity, there are several drawbacks in the use of 125I (e.g., radiological hazards and short half-life).

Design, synthesis, conformational analysis and nucleic acid hybridisation properties of thymidyl pyrrolidine-amide oligonucleotide mimics (POM) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Pyrrolidine-amide oligonucleotide mimics (POM) 1 were designed to be stereochemically and conformationally similar to natural nucleic acids, but with an oppositely charged, cationic backbone.

The local structure in liquid methylamine and methylamine–water mixtures [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2000
Molecular dynamics (MD) computer simulations are carried out on liquid methylamine and on 10 and 30 wt % aqueous solutions of methylamine. The local three-dimensional structure in these liquid systems is investigated using standard one-dimensional radial distribution functions and the fully three-dimensional measure of the local structure around the ...

Preparation of organic hydrazides [PDF]

open access: yes, 1959
Thesis (M.A.)--Boston UniversityDue to the actual high price of hydrazine, this chemical cannot be used in an economical preparation of organic hydrazides. A synthesis of such hydrazides can be envisaged by the reduction of N-nitroamides.
