Microsomal and nuclear metabolism of 3-methylcholanthrene

Biochemical Pharmacology, 1979
Abstract Hepatic nuclei and microsomes prepared from rats pretreated with 3-methyleholanthrene, or hepatic nuclei prepared from untreated rats, were incubated with generally 3H-labeled 3-methylcholanthrene in the presence of an NADPH-generating system.

Insoluble collagen of methylcholanthrene induced sarcoma

Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 1975
The insoluble collagen from methylcholanthrene induced sarcoma was isolated and characterized. It contains more glycine, hydroxyproline and acidic amino acids than normal connective tissue collagen. An anionic character of tumour collagen was stated (pI 6.1). No typical collagen subunits in this protein were found. The tumour collagen is strongly bound

Effect of Methylcholanthrene on Ovaries of Mice

Nature, 1955
ALTHOUGH a great deal of work has been done on the carcinogenic action of methylcholanthrene, its effects on specific organs and tissue systems have not been completely investigated. Among the methods employed are : skin-painting, subcutaneous injection, intra-peritoneal administration as well as injection into the amniotic fluid of mice.

Metabolism of 3-methylcholanthrene in rat pancreas

Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 1981
In vitro and in vivo studies revealed that pancreases of Long-Evans male rats metabolized 3-methylcholanthrene (3MC) principally at the 1- and 2-carbon positions. The pancreatic metabolizing capability was not induced by pretreatment with either benzo(a)pyrene (BP) or phenobarbital (PB).

Methylcholanthrene-Induced Thyroiditis

Archives of Environmental Health: An International Journal, 1969
Five unrelated strains of inbred female rats were given 0.033% 3-methylcholanthrene in the diet for 12 weeks. Buffalo-strain rats were the only animals that developed chronic thyroiditis. Fischer, ACI, Marshall, and Osborne Mendel strain rats did not. The protein bound iodine values in the experimental animals did not differ significantly from those in

Methylcholanthrene-induced Lymphosarcomas in Xenopus laevis

Nature, 1962
THE number of spontaneous neoplasms found in Amphibia1 and the success of Leono2,3 in chemically inducing tumours in newts uphold the view4 that Amphibia, like other vertebrates, are susceptible to tho occurrence of neoplastic growth.

Effect of 3-methylcholanthrene on rat uterus: Uterine growth and mechanism of action of 3-methylcholanthrene

Archives of Pharmacal Research, 1993
This study has been undertaken to examine the effect of 3-methylcholanthrene (3MC) on rat uterine growth and to understand the mechanism of action of 3MC in rat uterus. After diethylstilbesterol(DES) or tamoxifen(TAM) or 3MC or DES plus TAM or DES plus 3MC was administered into immature female rats, uterine weight of each group was measured.

Karyology of Rhabdomyosarcomas Induced with 3-Methylcholanthrene

Tumori Journal, 1972
This work aims to find out how a neoplastic condition affects the chromosome set of the rat. Malignant tumors were induced by 3-methylcholanthrene in adult rats. The karyologic examination of 3 sarcomas (S1, S2, S3) showed that: in S1 65% of the metaphases are hypotetraploid; in S2 75% of the metaphases are roughly diploid and only 25 % are ...
