Silica‐based Materials for Mercury Detection and Removal: A Chelation‐Free Solution
This work presents a chelating ligand‐free approach to the dual‐functional detection and removal of Hg2+ in aqueous media using a new silica‐based material functionalized with pyrene (PySiO2). PySiO2 exhibits high selectivity, sensitivity, and reusability, making it a promising candidate for sustainable water purification.

Indigenous‐Led Analysis of Important Subsistence Species Response to Resource Extraction
Subsistence hunting, or “country food,” is essential for Indigenous peoples who face high food insecurity and is critical for Indigenous Food Sovereignty. In the boreal of Canada, large game such as moose (Alces alces) are a primary source of protein for many First Nations, but resource extraction, including forestry practices and oil and gas ...

The Mercury-Tolerant Microbiota of the Zooplankton Daphnia Aids in Host Survival and Maintains Fecundity under Mercury Stress. [PDF]
Many aquatic organisms can thrive in polluted environments by having the genetic capability to withstand suboptimal conditions. However, the contributions of microbiomes under these stressful environments are poorly understood.

Simple methodology for methylmercury and inorganic mercury determinations by high-performance liquid chromatography-cold vapour atomic fluorescence spectrometry [PDF]
An analytical methodology was developed to separate and quantify methylmercury (MeHg) and inorganic mercury by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)-cold vapour atomic fluorescence spectrometry (CV-AFS).

Mercury and selenium relationship in a tropical estuarine fish
Aquatic systems have been considered as final sinks for persistent and bioaccumulative toxicants (PBTs), such as metals and organohalogen compounds. Among the trace elements, non-essential metals deserve special attention due to their toxicity.

The role of contaminant risk landscapes in the Anthropocene
Across the planet, human mobilization of chemical pollution and widespread land‐cover changes are key markers of the Anthropocene. However, because they occur at different spatial scales, contaminant mobilization and land‐cover changes are generally studied as separate issues. Landscapes differ in how contaminants are processed and risk manifests.

Mercury methylation versus demethylation: main processes involved [PDF]
It is well known that mercury presents high toxicity, causing a great damage to the environment and living organisms; however, its properties depend on the mercury species present.

High pressure high temperature (HPHT) synthesis and magnetism of MSr2Y1.5Ce0.5Cu2O10 compounds with M = Ru, Mn, and Cr [PDF]
The M-1222 compounds are synthesized in near single phase form. These compounds crystallise in I4/mmm Tetragonal structure. None of the studied compound is superconducting but they asre weakly magnetic. This is first report on synthesis of Cr and Mn -1222 compounds.
