Methylmercury promotes prostacyclin release from cultured human brain microvascular endothelial cells via induction of cyclooxygenase-2 through activation of the EGFR-p38 MAPK pathway by inhibiting protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B activity [PDF]
Methylmercury is an environmental pollutant that exhibits neurotoxicity when ingested, primarily in the form of neuropathological lesions that localize along deep sulci and fissures, in addition to edematous and inflammatory changes in patient cerebrums.

Effect of electron doping on the magnetic correlations in the bilayered brownmillerite compound Ca_{2.5-x}La_{x}Sr_{0.5}GaMn_{2}O_{8}: a neutron diffraction study [PDF]
The effect of electron doping on the magnetic properties of the Brownmillerite-type bilayered compounds has been investigated by neutron powder diffraction in La substituted Ca2.5-xLaxSr0.5GaMn2O8 compounds (x = 0.05 and 0.1), in comparison with the undoped compound (x = 0).

Heavy metal content in commercially available dog foods exceeded the maximum tolerable limits compared to cat foods. Higher priced, premium brands contained higher levels of heavy metals compared to the cheaper supermarket brands. There is a need for more stringent monitoring and regulation of heavy metal content in pet foods.

Glutathione-Mediated Neuroprotection Against Methylmercury Neurotoxicity in Cortical Culture is Dependent on MRP1 [PDF]
Methylmercury (MeHg) exposure at high concentrations poses significant neurotoxic threat to humans worldwide. The present study investigated the mechanisms of glutathione-mediated attenuation of MeHg neurotoxicity in primary cortical culture. MeHg (5 μM)

On a smooth scalar field characterizing the risk of exposure to methyl-mercury due to non intentional consumption of shark meet in males of México city's metropolitan area [PDF]
In this article, we obtain, through statistical and numerical methods, a smooth function in the variables of the life stage and the concentration, which estimates the risk of exposure of methylmercury due to the unintentional consumption of shark in men from Mexico City.

Due to the massive hunting by humans, the number of spotted seals has decreased dramatically. This study used the ICPMS method to conduct experiments and analysed the correlation between heavy metal accumulations in the bodies of naturally grown spotted seals in the Bohai Sea and artificially raised spotted seals in aquariums and water samples.

k-bitransitive and compound operators on Banach spaces [PDF]
In this this paper, we introduce new classes of operators in complex Banach spaces, which we call k-bitransitive operators and compound operators to study the direct sum of diskcyclic operators. We create a set of sufficient conditions for k-bitransitivity and compound. We show the relation between topologically mixing operators and compound operators.

#Bieber + #Blast = #BieberBlast: Early Prediction of Popular Hashtag Compounds [PDF]
Compounding of natural language units is a very common phenomena. In this paper, we show, for the first time, that Twitter hashtags which, could be considered as correlates of such linguistic units, undergo compounding. We identify reasons for this compounding and propose a prediction model that can identify with 77.07% accuracy if a pair of hashtags ...
