Occupational exposures in the operating room: Are surgeons well-equipped?

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
BackgroundOccupational health hazards are ubiquitously found in the operating room, guaranteeing an inevitable risk of exposure to the surgeon. Although provisions on occupational health and safety in healthcare exist, they do not address non-traditional

Fabrication of Embedded Microvalve on PMMA Microfluidic Devices through Surface Functionalization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The integration of a PDMS membrane within orthogonally placed PMMA microfluidic channels enables the pneumatic actuation of valves within bonded PMMA-PDMS-PMMA multilayer devices.

Epidemiological Comparative Study on Contact Sensitisations in Woodworkers With Occupational Dermatitis: Patch Test Data of the Information Network of Departments of Dermatology, 1999 to 2023

open access: yesContact Dermatitis, Volume 94, Issue 2, Page 125-136, February 2026.
The data demonstrates that allergic contact dermatitis is common in WW with OD. The most important allergens include resins (including epoxy resin) and plant‐derived substances (including colophonium). The high share of WW with allergic contact dermatitis and face dermatitis hampers preventive efforts.

Orthopaedic surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Over the past fifty years orthopaedic surgery made giant strides forward. It developed from a discipline that dealt primarily with the treatment of fractures, bone infections and tendon transfers and that treated degenerate joints by fusing them to one ...

Konjugierte Anorganisch‐Organische Hybrid‐Polymere mit p‐Block Elementen

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 2, 9 January 2026.

Opto-fluidic third order distributed feed-back dye laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This letter describes the design and operation of a polymer-based third order distributed feed-back (DFB) microfluidic dye laser. The device relies on light-confinement in a nano-structured polymer film where an array of nanofluidic channels is filled by

Conjugated Inorganic–Organic Hybrid Polymers with p‐Block Elements

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 2, 9 January 2026.
The influence of various p‐block element motifs on the photophysical properties of conjugated inorganic‐organic hybrid polymers is surveyed regarding applications in organic electronics. Recent advances in the use of heavier elements as well as heavier multiple bonds and the development of diverse (post‐)functionalization strategies suggest ample scope

Repeated chest wall reconstruction after resection of a sternal chondroid chordoma with long-term postoperative infection of the reconstructive material

open access: yesMonaldi Archives for Chest Disease, 2023
We present the case of a 23-year-old man with a chondroid chordoma of the sternum. The patient underwent chest wall resection, followed by stabilization using a sandwich graft of Prolene mesh and methylmethacrylate, covered with bilateral pedicled M ...

Morphology and mechanical properties of poly(methylmethacrylate)-b-poly(alkylacrylate)-b-poly(methylmethacrylate) [PDF]

open access: yesPolymer, 2001
Abstract A series of well-defined poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA)-b-poly(alkylacrylate)-b-PMMA triblock copolymers (MAM) has been synthesized by transalcoholysis of PMMA-b-poly(tert-butylacrylate)-b-PMMA precursors by alkyl alcohols. The molecular weight (MW) of the outer PMMA blocks is in the 10,000–50,000 range, compared to 50,000–200,000 for the ...
