Coarse entropy of metric spaces

open access: yesGeometriae Dedicata
AbstractCoarse geometry studies metric spaces on the large scale. The recently introduced notion of coarse entropy is a tool to study dynamics from the coarse point of view. We prove that all isometries of a given metric space have the same coarse entropy and that this value is a coarse invariant.

Efficacy and Safety Analysis of Roxarestat in Regulating Renal Anemia in Patients on Maintenance Hemodialysis

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of roxarestat versus recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) in the management of renal anemia in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis. Methods This was a prospective, open‐label, randomized controlled trial.

Long-range interactions, doubling measures and Tsallis entropy

open access: yes, 2014
We present a path toward determining the statistical origin of the thermodynamic limit for systems with long-range interactions. We assume throughout that the systems under consideration have thermodynamic properties given by the Tsallis entropy. We rely

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Relative Distribution Entropy Loss Function in CNN Image Retrieval

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
Convolutional neural networks (CNN) is the most mainstream solution in the field of image retrieval. Deep metric learning is introduced into the field of image retrieval, focusing on the construction of pair-based loss function.

Intelligent Fault Diagnosis of Rolling-Element Bearings Using a Self-Adaptive Hierarchical Multiscale Fuzzy Entropy

open access: yesEntropy, 2021
The fuzzy-entropy-based complexity metric approach has achieved fruitful results in bearing fault diagnosis. However, traditional hierarchical fuzzy entropy (HFE) and multiscale fuzzy entropy (MFE) only excavate bearing fault information on different ...

Go with the Flow, Average Holographic Universe

open access: yes, 2010
Gravity is a macroscopic manifestation of a microscopic quantum theory of space-time, just as the theories of elasticity and hydrodynamics are the macroscopic manifestation of the underlying quantum theory of atoms.

The metric entropy of diffeomorphisms [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the American Mathematical Society, 1984
For a diffeomorphism f of a closed Riemannian manifold M equipped with an f-invariant Borel probability measure m, the relationship between the entropy of f, \(h_ m(f)\), and geometric properties of f and m is investigated. The main results are the characterization of measures satisfying \textit{Ya. B. Pesin}'s entropy formula [Usp. Mat.
