Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

METRIC PROJECTIONS IN LINEAR METRIC SPACES

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica, 1990
Summary: Various properties of the metric projection are known in normed linear spaces. \textit{G. Pantelidis} [Math. Ann. 184, 30--48 (1969; Zbl 0175.42001)] discussed some of these properties in linear metric spaces. In this paper we also discuss some necessary and sufficient conditions for the metric projections to be continuous and Lipschitzian in ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Some remarks on bv(s)-metric spaces and fixed point results with an application

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2020
We compare the newly defined bv(s)-metric spaces with several other abstract spaces like metric spaces, b-metric spaces and show that some well-known results, which hold in the latter class of spaces, may not hold in bv(s)-metric spaces.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

On partial metric spaces and partial cone metric spaces

open access: yesHacettepe Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, 2017
It this article we shall show that partial metric spaces and partial cone metric spaces are quasi-uniformizable and hence quasi-metrizable. Finally, an application to the Banach’s fixed point theorem will be presented in this context.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Equivalence of some results and fixed-point theorems in S-multiplicative metric spaces

open access: yesFixed Point Theory and Algorithms for Sciences and Engineering
In this paper, some fixed-point theorems are stated and proved in S-multiplicative metric spaces. We also show in this paper that some fixed-point results for various S-multiplicative metric spaces are equivalent to those of corresponding fixed-point ...

Common fixed point theorems for cyclic contractive mappings in partial cone b-metric spaces and applications to integral equations

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2016
In this paper, we introduce the concept of partial cone b-metric spaces as a generalization of partial metric, cone metric and b-metric spaces and establish some topological properties of partial cone b-metric spaces.
