Replacement of dietary carbohydrate with protein increases fat mass and reduces hepatic triglyceride synthesis and content in female obese Zucker rats

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 11, Issue 23, December 2023., 2023
Abstract Previous studies have demonstrated both energy restriction (ER) and higher protein (HP), lower carbohydrate (LC) diets downregulate hepatic de novo lipogenesis. Little is known about the independent and combined impact of ER and HP/LC diets on tissue‐specific lipid kinetics in leptin receptor‐deficient, obese rodents.

Edible Coating Formulated by Optimization from Aloe vera, Starch, and Arabic Gum Improved the Conservation of Banana (Musa acuminata) Fruits

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Science, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Banana is a very perishable climacteric fruit with consequence of large postharvest losses. The objective of the present study was to improve the postharvest shelf life of bananas. Fruits from the Melong locality were treated with coating solutions formulated with a mixture of Aloe vera, starch, and Arabic gum at different concentrations.

Leafminer attack accelerates the development of soil‐dwelling conspecific pupae via plant‐mediated changes in belowground volatiles

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 234, Issue 1, Page 280-294, April 2022., 2022
Summary Herbivore population dynamics are strongly influenced by the interactions established through their shared host. Such plant‐mediated interactions can occur between different herbivore species and different life developmental stages of the same herbivore.

Active Antialopecia Chemical Identification of Merremia peltata Leaves and Computational Study toward Androgen Receptor Using Molecular Docking and Molecular Dynamic Simulation

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Alopecia is a health condition in which the hair loses its function in some or all of the body. Alopecia occurs due to various genetic, environmental, and nutritional factors. One of the methods developed to treat alopecia is through inhibition of the enzyme 5‐α‐reductase, which converts testosterone into its more potent metabolite, dihydrotestosterone

Development of a PDEδ‐Targeting PROTACs that Impair Lipid Metabolism

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 132, Issue 14, Page 5644-5650, March 27, 2020., 2020

The plant terpenes DMNT and TMTT function as signaling compounds that attract Asian corn borer (Ostrinia furnacalis) to maize plants. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Integr Plant Biol
Maize plants infested by Asian corn borer larvae produce terpene compounds, termed herbivory‐induced plant volatiles, that attract additional corn borer larvae. When the maize genes encoding enzymes involved in biosynthesis of these compounds are knocked out, the maize plants are less attractive to corn borer larvae.

Chemical Manipulation of Abscisic Acid Signaling: A New Approach to Abiotic and Biotic Stress Management in Agriculture

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 7, Issue 18, September 23, 2020., 2020
Small molecules that can manipulate abscisic acid (ABA) signaling events are designed, developed, and evaluated. The ABA‐mediated stress adaptive responses of plants are mimicked by small molecules, and the ABA biosynthesis and catabolism events are altered by inhibitors.

Floral Scent Variation in Cyrtorchis letouzeyi (Orchidaceae) Between Natural Versus Cultivated Environments

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 3, May 2025.
Shade houses serve as effective scientific tools for ex situ cultivation and orchid conservation in tropical forests. A comparison of the floral scent chemistry of Cyrtorchis letouzeyi between shade houses and natural populations in Cameroon revealed the same dominant compound, identical qualitative compositions across sites, but variations in emission

Biochemical composition and antioxidant activity of three extra virgin olive oils from the Irpinia Province, Southern Italy

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 7, Issue 10, Page 3233-3243, October 2019., 2019
Our study aimed to evaluate some biochemical characteristics (polyphenols and volatile compounds) as well as the antioxidant activity of three extra virgin olive oils (EVOOs) obtained from the varieties Ravece, Ogliarola, and Ruvea antica, grown in the same field of an Irpinian village, Montella, in the Campania region, Southern Italy.

Multi‐Omics Analysis Reveals Impacts of LincRNA Deletion on Yeast Protein Synthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 13, April 3, 2025.
This study demonstrates that the deletion of specific lincRNAs in yeast affects protein secretion. An engineered yeast strain, with multiple genetic modifications including lincRNA deletion, achieves a high yield of 4.1 g L⁻1 in fed‐batch cultivation.
