Liquidus of MgO and MgAl2O4 in the CaO‐MgO‐Al2O3 System at 1550 and 1600°C
ABSTRACT In this study, the liquidus of MgO and MgAl2O4 spinel phase in the CaO‐MgO‐Al2O3 system at 1550 and 1600°C were experimentally investigated using a classical quenching method. In order to examine the liquidus composition accurately, the equilibration was carried out using four different ways using the combinations of Pt and ceramic (MgO and ...

The present work reports the synthesis and mechanical behavior studies of Mg–3Ca alloy foams stabilized by ultrafine MgAl2O4 (spinel) particles. The MgAl2O4 particles was created in-situ in the Mg–3Ca alloy melt through the reaction of Mg, Al and O ...

Alkali Vapor Corrosion of Spinel (MgAl2O4) and Gahnite (ZnAl2O4) Refractories—A Comparative Study
ABSTRACT Alkali vapor corrosion is critical for refractories used in the kilns and furnaces of diverse high‐temperature processing and manufacturing sectors such as gasifiers, cement production, and glass making. Gahnite (ZnAl2O4) is being investigated as a potential chrome‐free refractory because of its similarity with the structure and properties of ...

Small aromatic ligands are used to synthesize Ni particles between 1 and 4.4 nm. After deposition on various supports, an alkylating agent and subsequent reduction procedure are used to remove the ligands. On SiO2, the Ni particles remained small, but on Al2O3 they sintered severely.

Superconductivity in spinel oxide LiTi2O4 epitaxial thin films
LiTi2O4 is a unique material in that it is the only known oxide spinel superconductor. Although bulk studies have demonstrated that superconductivity can be generally described by the Bardeen-Cooper-Schreiffer theory, the microscopic mechanisms of ...

Optical constants of refractory oxides at high temperatures
Many cosmic dust species, among them refractory oxides, form at temperatures higher than 300 K. Nevertheless, most astrophysical studies are based on the room-temperature optical constants of solids, such as corundum and spinel. A more realistic approach

Effect of Rare Earth on Inclusions and Fatigue Properties of 20CrMnTi Gear Steel [PDF]
To deeply investigate the effect of rare earth (La/Ce) on inclusions and fatigue properties of 20CrMnTi gear steel, the inclusions in 20CrMnTi and 20CrMnTi-RE gear steel treated with 0.002 7% rare earth were analyzed and characterized by various ...

Evolution of magnetic properties in the vicinity of the Verwey transition in Fe3O4 thin films
We have systematically studied the evolution of magnetic properties, especially the coercivity and the remanence ratio in the vicinity of the Verwey transition temperature (TV ), of high-quality epitaxial Fe3O4 thin films grown on MgO (001), MgAl2O4 (MAO)
