Microstructural characterization of in-situ MgAl2O4 nanoparticles reinforced Al–2Mg–1Si composite produced using the ultrasonic assisted stir casting process

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The ceramic particle reinforced Aluminium Matrix Composites (AMCs) lead to a reduction in ductility due to the restricted plastic flow of the matrix. The present work shows an enhancement in tensile properties without considerable loss in ductility by ...

Synthesis of MgO Doped with CoO/MgAl2O4, NiO/MgAl2O4, and CuO/MgAl2O4 in a Single Pot for Efficient Dye Adsorption

open access: yesInorganics
A simple method employing dextrose as a capping agent was adopted for making MgAl2O4@MgO (AM), 5%NiO-MgAl2O4@MgO (AMNi), 5%CoO-MgAl2O4@MgO (AMCo), and 5%CuO-MgAl2O4@MgO (AMCu) nanocomposites. The average particle sizes, determined via SEM, were in the range of 21.6–51.4 nm, 9.8–13.8 nm, 19.1–32.2 nm, and 9.2–31.2 nm for AM, AMCu, AMNi, and AMCo ...

Structural characteristics of MgAl2O4 spinel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Magnesium aluminate spinel (MgAl2O4) is a material with good mechanical, chemical, and thermal properties, low dielectric permeability and loss tangent. Based on those properties, MgAl2O4 has found a significant application in refractory ceramics, ceramics windows, integrated electronic devices, etc.

Nanocubes and Cuboctahedra: Entropic Stabilization Versus Thermal Segregation in Rock Salt‐ and Spinel‐Type Multinary Oxides from Spray‐Flame Synthesis

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Spray‐flame synthesis enables highly flexible and scalable production of multinary and high‐entropy oxide nanoparticles due to high synthesis temperatures with subsequent quenching. Temperature‐dependent in situ diffraction of as‐synthesized materials clearly reveals entropy stabilization in rock salt lattices, while spinels—featuring tetrahedral and ...

Rational design of Ni‐based catalysts for methane dry reforming: Recent advances and future perspectives

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
Addressing the challenges inherent in dry reforming of methane (DRM), this paper focuses on the structural design and performance optimization of Ni‐based catalysts. The modulation strategies for DRM are systematically reviewed across four dimensions: the micromorphology of active metals, metal‐support interactions, electronic modifications by ...

Analyses of the Deformability and Chemistry of Non‐Metallic Inclusions in QT Steels With Increased Recycling‐Induced Tramp Element Content

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This work uses high‐temperature dilatometry to examine how the tramp elements Cu, Ni, and Sn affect the deformability of non‐metallic inclusions and matrix in quench‐and‐temper steel. Mg‐bearing inclusions deform less than Mg‐free ones. Copper lowers formability. Nickel increases deformability.
