Low temperature synthesis of magnesium oxide and spinel powders by a sol-gel process
Magnesium oxide and magnesium aluminate (MgAl2O4) spinel (MAS) powders have been synthesized by a simple aqueous sol-gel process using citrate polymeric precursors derived from magnesium chloride, aluminium nitrate and citrate.

Sonochemical preparation of high surface area MgAl2O4 spinel
High surface area MgAl(2)O(4) has been synthesised by a sonochemical method. Two kinds of precursors were used, alkoxides and nitrates/acetates and in both cases nanostructured MgAl(2)O(4) was obtained. The effect of the addition of a surfactant during the sonication, cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide, was also investigated.

Efficient determination of alloy ground-state structures [PDF]
We propose an efficient approach to accurately finding the ground-state structures in alloys based on the cluster expansion method. In this approach, a small number of candidate ground-state structures are obtained without any information of the energy ...

Reactivity and microstructure evolution of a CoNiCrAlY/Talc cermet prepared by spark plasma sintering [PDF]
A mixture of CoNiCrAlY and talc powders is considered as a new candidate composition for abradable seal coating applications. Dense specimen having the composition of 1:20 weight ratio of talc with respect to CoNiCrAlY was prepared using the Spark Plasma

Stabilization of MgAl2O4 spinel surfaces via doping [PDF]
Abstract Surface structure of complex oxides plays a vital role in processes such as sintering, thin film growth, and catalysis, as well as being a critical factor determining the stability of nanoparticles. Here, we report atomistic calculations of the low-index stoichiometric magnesium aluminate spinel (MgAl2O4) surfaces, each with two different ...

Control-monitoring systems of environment temperature and humidity based on oxyspinel thick films [PDF]
The possibility to use planar-type multilayer thick-film structures based on manganite CuxNi1–x–yCo2yMn2–yO4 and aluminate MgAl2O4 spinel oxide ceramics as integrated temperature-humidity sensors for environmental control-monitoring systems is analysed.
