High transport currents in mechanically reinforced MgB2 wires
We prepared and characterized monofilamentary MgB2 wires with a mechanically reinforced composite sheath of Ta(Nb)/Cu/steel, which leads to dense filaments and correspondingly high transport currents up to Jc = 10^5 A/cm^2 at 4.2 K, self field.

Theory of fluctuations in a two-band superconductor
A theory of fluctuations in two-band superconductor MgB$_{2}$ is developed. Since the standard Ginzburg-Landau (GL) approach fails in description of its properties, we generalize it basing on the microscopic theory of a two-band superconductor ...

We have performed flux noise and AC-susceptibility measurements on two 400 nm thick MgB$_2$ films. Both measurement techniques give information about the vortex dynamics in the sample, and hence the superconducting transition, and can be linked to each ...

Superconductivity properties of compound MgB2 on basis of two-band model
The theory of thermodynamic properties of two-band superconductor with reduced den- sity of charge carriers is developed on the basis of phonon superconducting mechanism with strong electron-phonon interaction.

Heat Conduction in the Vortex State of NbSe_2: Evidence for Multi-Band Superconductivity
The thermal conductivity kappa of the layered s-wave superconductor NbSe_2 was measured down to T_c/100 throughout the vortex state. With increasing field, we identify two regimes: one with localized states at fields very near H_c1 and one with highly ...

Thermoelectric power of MgB2 superconductors
The thermoelectric power of MgB2.superconductor is theoretically investigated in the present work. The scattering effects of electrons and phonons with various irregularities in the crystal have been studied. The phonon drag thermoelectric power ST in hexagonal MgB2 superconductors is calculated within the relaxation time approximation, Mott expression

Intralayer Carbon Substitution in the MgB2 Superconductor
We report that the ternary MgB2-xCx compounds adopt an isostructural AlB2-type hexagonal structure in a relatively small range of nominal carbon concentration, x<0.1. The lattice parameter a decreases almost linearly with increasing carbon content x, while the c parameter remains unchanged, indicating that carbon is exclusively substituted in the ...

AC losses in MgB2 superconductors
This Master thesis studies losses in superconductors. Losses arise when the superconductor carries alternating current or is placed in an alternating magnetic field. As most power applications involve at least one of the two, loss mechanisms and magnitudes are important when examining the possibility of making superconductor systems competitive to ...
