Magnetic Characterization of SiC Doped Bulk MgB2 Superconductor

open access: yesJournal of Superconductivity and Novel Magnetism, 2010
Flux pinning is a very significant mechanism to improve critical current density in MgB2 for many applications, such as developing the performance of wires and tapes. In this study, we have done a systematic study of SiC inclusions in the main matrix of MgB2.

Specific heat of Nb3Sn: The case for a single gap

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2014
The important influence of multiple gaps in the superconductivity of MgB2 and Fe-based compounds, especially because of the possibility that manipulation of a second gap can significantly raise the upper critical field Hc2, has refocused attention on ...

Time-Dependent Diffusion Coefficient of Fe in MgB2 Superconductors

open access: yesJournal of Superconductivity and Novel Magnetism, 2017
The iron (Fe) diffusion in superconducting MgB2 bulk samples has been studied for sintering time durations of 15 min, 30 min, 1 h, 2 h, and 4 h at 900∘C. Fe coating bulk polycrstalline superconducting MgB2 samples for Fe coating were prepared by pelletizing and used in the diffusion experiments with initial sintering at 800∘C for 1 h.

Subharmonic gap structures and Josephson effect in MgB2/Nb micro-constrictions

open access: yes, 2005
Superconducting micro-constrictions between Nb tips and high quality MgB$_{2}$ pellets have been realized by means of a point-contact inset, driven by a micrometric screw.

Two‐Dimensional Aluminum Boride AlB4 Nanosheets as a Platform to Architecture Very Rare Semiconducting Phase and Superconductor

open access: yesSusMat, Volume 5, Issue 4, August 2025.
Very rare semiconducting AlB4 phase was discovered together with several low‐lying allotropes form a new class of multifunctional 2D AlB4 nanomaterials featuring exotic hypercoordinate motifs and fascinating physicochemical properties. ABSTRACT Semiconducting phase is extremely rare and difficult to be realized in two‐dimensional (2D) aluminum borides.

Two-gap superconductivity in R2Fe3Si5 (R=Lu, Sc) and Sc5Ir4Si10

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials, 2008
R2Fe3Si5 (R= Sc, Y, Lu) contains nonmagnetic iron and has a relatively high superconducting transition temperature Tc among iron-containing superconductors.

Use of Frit‐Disc Crucible Sets to Make Solution Growth More Quantitative and Versatile

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, Volume 651, Issue 7, May 12, 2025.
The recent availability of step‐edge, frit‐disc crucible sets (generally sold as Canfield Crucible Sets or CCS) has led to multiple innovations associated with the group's use of solution growth. The use of CCS allows for the clean separation of liquid from solid phases during the growth process.

High field performance of nanodiamond doped MgB2 superconductor

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 2008
The results from magnetotransport and magnetization of nanodiamond doped MgB2-nDx are reported. Superconducting transition temperature (Tc) is not affected significantly by x up to x=0.05 and latter decreases slightly for higher x>0.05. R(T) vs H measurements show higher Tc values under same applied magnetic fields for the nanodiamond added ...

Effective action approach to the Leggett's mode in two-band superconductors

open access: yes, 2002
We investigate a collective excitation (Leggett's mode) corresponding to small fluctuations of the relative phase of two condensates in two-band superconductor using the effective ``phase only'' action.
