Heating Diagnostics with MHD Waves
Space Science Reviews, 2009The heating of the solar atmosphere is a fundamental problem of modern solar and astrophysics. A review of the seismological aspects of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) waves with an emphasis on standing longitudinal waves in the context of coronal heating is presented.

Molecular Signatures of MHD Waves
Astrophysics and Space Science, 1995The small ion-neutral drift speeds attained in MHD waves lead to a significant increase in the rates of several important ion-molecule reactions. The effect on the deuterium chemistry of dark clouds could allow MHD wave motion to be observed directly. The results of some recent observations to test this theory are outlined.

Refraction and/or magnetic field curvature can lead to ‘geometrical mode coupling’ between the MHD modes. The effect is linear, but it is a finite‐wavelength effect. It is studied here for a simple configuration which is amenable to analysis and which illustrates the basic features of the coupling.

Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion, 1986
Reviews recent developments in the theory of MHD waves in connection with radio-frequency heating in the Alfven wave and ion cyclotron ranges of frequencies (AWRF, ICRF). The account focuses on the discussion of full wave solutions and the oscillation spectra in bounded, generally inhomogeneous, plasmas. Original results are presented concerning forced
