Magnetic Field of the Active Planet-hosting M Dwarf AU Mic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
AU Mic is a young, very active M dwarf star with a debris disk and at least one transiting Neptune-size planet. Here we present detailed analysis of the magnetic field of AU Mic based on previously unpublished high-resolution optical and near-infrared spectropolarimetric observations. We report a systematic detection of circular and linear polarization

A Systematic Study of Staphylococcus aureus Biofilm Formation on Thiol‐Ene Polymers: Toward the Development of Microfluidic Bacterial Biofilm Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This work presents a systematic characterization of an emerging polymer platform, off‐stoichiometry thiol‐ene, in terms of its ability to support the formation, growth, and metabolic activity of Staphylococcus aureus biofilms. The findings indicate that thiol‐enes promote S.

Antibiotic‐Mediated Plasmonic‐Mie Resonance for Biosensing Applications on a Novel Silicon Nanopillar Metasurface

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Unique nanopillar metasurfaces are fabricated for the purpose of sensitive detection to refractive index changes in the presence of gold nanoparticles. The addition of these nanoparticles to the surface of the silicon nanopillars is facilitated via a novel antibiotic‐mediated linker system to promote localized surface plasmon effects resulting from Mie

Durable Bio‐Based Nanocomposite Coating on Urinary Catheters Prevents Early‐Stage CAUTI‐Associated Pathogenicity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A stable bio‐based nanocomposite coating for urinary catheters is developed using a simple, environmentally‐friendly sonochemical process. The coating, integrating antimicrobial, antibiofilm, and antioxidant properties, effectively tackled multiple early‐stage pathogenic factors associated with catheter‐associated urinary tract infections.
