Learning Across the Divide: Understanding Knowledge Sharing Through Petrographic Analysis on Ceramics From the Rhine‐Meuse Delta During the Middle to Late Neolithic Transition (3400–2200 bce)

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Vlaardingen (VL) communities on the Dutch West coast (3400–2200 bce) are part of a unique, long‐term continuity in the European Neolithic. Despite large‐scale changes in European populations during the Neolithic, the genomic diversity and cultural practices of VL communities can be retraced to the Mesolithic.

Neural Networks and Multivariate Analysis Based on Geochemical Data to Determine Stone Provenance From Ancient Calabrian Quarries (Southern Italy)

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study shows an innovative approach to determine the origin of some Calabrian rocks quarried used in ancient times. Twenty‐five quarries, distributed in all the Calabrian provinces (Southern Italy), were studied and sampled. Ten samples were taken from each quarry, for a total of 250 samples.

Technologies of Transition: Pottery Production and Specialization in Early Rome and Its Neighbors. Neutron Activation Analysis of Regional Assemblages and a Mineralogical‐Petrographic Study of Impasto Chiaro‐Sabbioso

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The following paper investigates ceramic production and signs of specialization in Rome and the wider region during the early first millennium bce, through an archaeometric approach using Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA), and complementary techniques.

AlpIce‐1: a database of geochronological and geomorphological constraints on Alps‐wide palaeoglacier fluctuations between the Last Glacial Maximum and the Holocene

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
The AlpIce‐1 database is the first compilation of published geomorphological and geochronological markers constraining build‐up, culmination and decay of glaciers from the Last Glacial Maximum through the Holocene across the entire European Alps. AlpIce‐1 integrates more than 4200 surface‐exposure and radiocarbon ages, homogenized, quality controlled ...
