Abstract The effects of cross-fostering were assessed on two inbred strains of mice (DBA2J and C3H/He) characterized by sharp discrepancies in learning curves and memory patterns when trained in a shuttle-box. The data show that modifications of preweaning environment affect the emotional behavior while variations of learning patterns are only due to

The behavior of fluoride ions in biological systems has advantages and problems. On one hand, fluoride could be a mitogenic stimulus for osteoblasts. However, high concentrations of this element can cause apoptosis in rat and mouse osteoblasts. Toward an understanding of this effect, we examined the role of sodium fluoride (NaF) in two mouse calvaria ...

Myeloid Cells after X Irradiation in C3H/He Inbred Mice. Myeloid leukemia cells were derived from regenerated hematopoietic cells damaged by sublethal doses of X radiation in C3H/He inbred mice. We previously found that within the genome of the myeloid leukemia cells, a retrotransposon, the intracisternal A-particle (IAP) element, is integrated. Levels

[Tissue distribution of iso-metronidazole and metronidazole in tumor-bearing C3H inbred mice].
Archiv fur Geschwulstforschung, 1985Among the group of nitroimidazole radiosensitizers, predominantly misonidazole and metronidazole have so far been submitted to an extensive clinical testing. However, neurotoxic side effects have limited the dose of the substance necessary to obtain a maximal effect of sensibilization. Therefore, extensive efforts are being undertaken in the search for

Chronic polyarthritis in inbred C3H/He mice after systemic administration of allogeneic thymocytes.
The Journal of rheumatology, 1982Chronic polyarthritis was produced in inbred C3H/He mice after intraperitoneal (ip) administration of allogeneic thymocytes of inbred line BALB/c mice. The polyarthritis persisted more than 18 months without additional ip treatment. Histologically, synovial cell hyperplasia, granulation tissue formation, and inflammatory cell infiltration were seen ...

Alzheimer's disease is characterized by two pathological hallmarks, the intracellular deposition of hyperphosphorylated Tau protein and the extracellular deposition of Aβ1–40/42, both being targets for immunotherapy. This study evaluates the immunogenic properties of three AD‐specific B‐cell epitopes (Tau229–237[pT231/pS235], pyroGluAβ3–8, and Aβ37/38 ...

[Studies on the growth rate of spontaneous mammary carcinomas in C3H inbred mice (author's transl)].
Archiv fur Geschwulstforschung, 1976The incidence of spontaneous mammary carcinomas was determined in the C3H mouse inbred colony reared in Berlin-Buch over the past three years. Only female animals reaching a lifespan of no less than 170 days, corresponding to the longevity of the shortest lived animal in which a mammary carcinoma developed, were included in the study.

Studies of Trypanosoma Cruzi Clones in Inbred Mice
The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1983Two single-cell-isolate cloned stocks of the Sylvio-X10 strain, recovered from an acute human Trypanosoma cruzi infection, were used to infect C3H/HEN mice. The Sylvio-X10/4 clone produced a chronic infection in mice; clone Sylvio-X10/7 produced an acute lethal infection under identical experimental conditions.

Substrains of inbred C3H mice differ significantly in their genetic constitution with respect to biochemical markers, skin grafting, and skeletal variations. The presence of such discrepancies among substrains poses a problem when comparing conclusions based on experiments done in different substrains.

Liver neoplasia in mice is one of the most frequent tumor target tissue endpoints observed in 2-year carcinogenicity studies of the US National Toxicology Program (NTP). B6C3F1 mice are the hybrids of male C3H/He, which are highly sensitive (hepatomas in 7291% at 14 months), and C57B1/6J females, which exhibit a low susceptibility to spontaneous and ...
