Frequent DNA Polymorphisms Exist in Inbred CBA/J and C3H/HeN Mice

open access: yesGenomics, 1996
Although occasional DNA polymorphisms have been observed in inbred mice, CBA/J and C3H/HeN mice have two microsatellite alleles at over 1/3 of microsatellite loci tested. Since DNA polymorphisms were not detected in DBA/2J, C57BL/6J, and BALB/cJ, the frequency of microsatellite polymorphisms appears to be strain specific.

Helminth Parasites of Conventionally Maintained Laboratory Mice: II- Inbred Strains with an Adaptation of the Anal Swab Technique

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1998
Worm burdens recovered from inbred mice strains, namely C57Bl/6, C57Bl/10, CBA, BALB/c, DBA/2 and C3H/He, conventionally maintained in two institutional animal houses in the State of Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil, were analyzed and compared, regarding their

Transcriptome analysis identifies pathways associated with enhanced maternal performance in QSi5 mice

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2008
Background Highly fecund mouse strains provide an ideal model to understand the factors affecting maternal performance. The QSi5 inbred strain of mice was selected for high fecundity and low inter-litter interval, and is very successful at weaning large ...

Immune responses of different mouse strains after challenge with equivalent lethal doses of toxoplasma Gondii

open access: yesParasite, 2004
Most immunological studies that utilize different strains of inbred mice following T. gondii infection fail to compensate for differences in host susceptibility to the size of the parasite innoculum.

The expression of aromatase, estrogen receptor a and estrogen receptor b in mouse Leydig cells in vitro that derived from cryptorchid males

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Histochemistry, 2009
A broad expression of aromatase and estrogen receptors (ERs) in the testis suggests an important role for estrogens in regulating testicular cell function and reproductive events.

Antibody responses against Mycobacterium tuberculosis in 11 strains of inbred mice: novel monoclonal antibody specificities generated by fusions, using spleens from BALB.B10 and CBA/J mice [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1988
Eleven strains of inbred mice were immunized with a culture filtrate of Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv, and the quality of the antibody responses was determined by immunoblotting. The quantity of mycobacterial antigen used for each immunization ranged from 6 to 750 micrograms per inoculum. The culture filtrate of M.

Interfrontal Bone Among Inbred Strains of Mice and QTL Mapping

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2019
The interfrontal bone (IF) is a minor skeletal trait residing between the frontal bones. IF is considered a quasi-continuous trait. Genetic and environmental factors appear to play roles in its development. The mechanism(s) underlying IF bone development

Genotype-Dependent Difference in 5-HT2C Receptor-Induced Hypolocomotion: Comparison with 5-HT2A Receptor Functional Activity

open access: yesNeural Plasticity, 2015
In the present study behavioral effects of the 5-HT2C serotonin receptor were investigated in different mouse strains. The 5-HT2C receptor agonist MK-212 applied intraperitoneally induced significant dose-dependent reduction of distance traveled in the ...

Cranial bone morphometric study among mouse strains

open access: yesBMC Evolutionary Biology, 2008
Background Little is known about the molecular mechanism which regulates how the whole cranium is shaped. Mouse models currently available for genetic research include several hundreds of unique inbred strains and genetically engineered mutants. By cross

Strongyloides venezuelensis infection susceptibility of seven inbred strains of mice Susceptibilidade de sete linhagens isogênicas de camundongos à infecções por Strongyloides venezuelensis

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, 2002
A trial was carried out to investigate the susceptibility of seven strains of mice to Strongyloides venezuelensis primary and secondary experimental infections, in order to provide the basis for genetic studies about resistance.
