Effect of aging on cold tolerance and thyroid activity in CBA/Ca inbred mice
Experimental Gerontology, 1991Relationships between cold tolerance, serum levels of thyroxine (T4), thyronine (T3), and thyrotropine (TSH), and thyroid morphometry have been investigated in male CBA/Ca inbred mice at various ages through their life span. From the data obtained it appeared that there was an age-related decrease in cold tolerance up to 18 months of age which was ...

Effect of 2-mercaptoethanol on some metabolic indices of ageing of CBA/Ca inbred mice
Mechanisms of Ageing and Development, 1988It has been shown in several studies that 2-mercaptoethanol (2-ME) improves the life span and aspects of life performance of laboratory animals. To obtain further details on the beneficial effects of 2-ME, a long-term study has been performed on male CBA/Ca inbred mice treated with this antioxidant. Four month-old mice were each given 4 micrograms of 2-

Genetic polymorphism of the representatives of inbred BALB/c, C57BL/6, and CBA mice lines was studied using 10 STR markers. Among 30 individuals, 36 various alleles were identified. Using the algorithm of the Structure program, it was found that each line of mice is genetically differentiated from other lines and has its own allelic profile of ...

Inbred mouse strains SWR and CBA differ markedly in their relatively susceptibility to the acute toxic effects of intraperitoneally administered caffeine. At a dose of 187 mg/kg, SWR mice survive a stress-potentiated lethality test apparently related to the generation of tonic seizures; in contrast, CBA mice usually die in less than 30 seconds after ...

A hypothesis on the genetic determination of periodic fluctuations of the sensitivity to the mutagen thioTEPA in successive inbred generations of mice has been earlier put forward. This study was the initial stage of testing this hypothesis. The mouse strain CBA/LacY was divided into two substrains, which differed in the rate of generation change. As a

The goal of this study is to perform a comparative genetic investigation of testicle development during the postpubescence period (from days 70 to 90 of life) in the inbred mice lines PT and CBA/Lac. Interlinear differences in the body and testicular weight, serum testosterone concentration, number of epididymal spermatozoa, area of testicular ...

Several lines of evidence suggest that the convulsant actions of caffeine are mediated through benzodiazepine receptors. A pharmacogenetic approach has been used to further explore the relationship of these receptors to caffeine-induced seizures. The susceptibility of two inbred strains of mice (CBA and SWR) to the convulsant actions of picrotoxinin ...

AbstractThe number of different anti‐NIP (4‐hydroxy‐5‐iodo‐3‐nitro‐phenacetyl) molecules which inbred CBA/H mice can make was estimated. Spleen cell transfer has been used and the isoelectric spectra of antibodies present in the sera of recipient mice determined.

Effect of the interferon inducer tilorone in inbred CBA mice.
Acta microbiologica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae, 1977Tilorone hydrochloride (200 mg/kg) was administered intragastrically to inbred CBA mice. After 5, 18 and 48 hr the number of circulating leucocytes and peritoneal cells as well as the migration of unstimulated peritoneal cells, the blood corticosteroid level and interferon production were investigated.
