Arthritis in MRL/lpr mice is under the control of multiple gene loci with an allelic combination derived from the original inbred strains [PDF]

open access: yesArthritis and Rheumatism, 2002
AbstractObjectiveTo clarify the mode of inheritance and the genome origins of arthritis in a lupus‐prone strain of mice, MRL/MpJ, bearing a Fas deletion mutant gene, lpr (MRL/lpr).MethodsUsing non–lupus‐prone strains of mice, C3H/HeJ‐lpr/lpr (C3H/lpr), (MRL/lpr × C3H/lpr)F1 intercross and MRL/lpr × (MRL/lpr × C3H/lpr)F1 backcross mice were prepared ...

Mouse tissue glycome atlas 2022 highlights inter-organ variation in major N-glycan profiles

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
This study presents “mouse tissue glycome atlas” representing the profiles of major N-glycans of mouse glycoproteins that may define their essential functions in the surface glycocalyx of mouse organs/tissues and serum-derived extracellular vesicles ...

sNASP Mutation Aggravates to the TLR4‐Mediated Inflammation in SLE by TAK1 Pathway

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Genetic factors play an important role in the pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and abnormal Toll‐like receptor (TLR) signaling pathways are closely related to the onset of SLE. In previous studies, we found that the mutant somatic nuclear autoantigenic sperm protein (sNASP) gene in the mouse lupus susceptibility locus Sle2 can ...

Immunoglobulin genes, reproductive isolation and vertebrate speciation

open access: yesImmunology &Cell Biology, Volume 100, Issue 7, Page 497-506, August 2022., 2022
Coordinated evolution is required to avoid incompatibilities between interacting genes, and the genetics of immunoglobulins (IGs) may make them especially prone to such incompatibilities. We argue here that the hybrid offspring of two diverging populations will carry a heavy burden of incompatibilities, resulting in a loss of fitness.

Maternal Prkce expression in mature oocytes is critical for the first cleavage facilitating maternal‐to‐zygotic transition in mouse early embryos

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 55, Issue 6, June 2022., 2022
Oocyte competence is variable among different mouse strains, most likely due to the differential abundance of maternal transcripts in the oocyte during MZT. One candidate gene, Prkce, plays an essential role in facilitating MZT, especially during the first cleavage.

Rodent models of cholestatic liver disease: A practical guide for translational research

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 41, Issue 4, Page 656-682, April 2021., 2021
Abstract Cholestatic liver disease denotes any situation associated with impaired bile flow concomitant with a noxious bile acid accumulation in the liver and/or systemic circulation. Cholestatic liver disease can be subdivided into different types according to its clinical phenotype, such as biliary atresia, drug‐induced cholestasis, gallstone liver ...

The association between EAE development in mice and the production of autoantibodies and abzymes after immunization of mice with different antigens

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 25, Issue 5, Page 2493-2504, March 2021., 2021
Abstract We have previously shown that immunization of C57BL/6 mice, prone to spontaneous development of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), with three antigens (MOG35‐55, DNA‐histone complex or DNA‐methylated BSA complex), alters the differentiation profiles of bone marrow haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs).

IgG3 deficiency extends lifespan and attenuates progression of glomerulonephritis in MRL/lpr mice

open access: yesBiology Direct, 2012
Background Antibodies of the IgG3 subclass have been implicated in the pathogenesis of the spontaneous glomerulonephritis observed in mice of the MRL/MpJ-Tnfrsf6lpr (MRL/lpr) inbred strain which have been widely studied as a model of systemic lupus ...

Anti‐OSM Antibody Inhibits Tubulointerstitial Lesion in a Murine Model of Lupus Nephritis

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, Volume 2017, Issue 1, 2017., 2017
The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of oncostatin M (OSM) in tubulointerstitial lesion (TIL) in lupus nephritis (LN). We found that OSM was highly expressed in the renal tissue of LN mice. OSM is one of the interleukin‐6 cytokine family members.

Selected Aspects in the Pathogenesis of Autoimmune Diseases

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
Autoimmune processes can be found in physiological circumstances. However, they are quenched with properly functioning regulatory mechanisms and do not evolve into full‐blown autoimmune diseases. Once developed, autoimmune diseases are characterized by signature clinical features, accompanied by sustained cellular and/or humoral immunological ...
