Micro-computed tomography for the quantification of blocked fibers in hemodialyzers [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
AbstractA novel technique based on micro-CT scanning is developed to quantify coagulation in fibers of hemodialyzers. This objectivation is needed to allow accurate assessment of thrombogenicity of dialyzers used during hemodialysis, for example when comparing different strategies to avoid coagulation and/or fiber blocking. The protocol allowed imaging

Multifractal Analysis of Reservoir Rock Samples Using 3D X-Ray Micro Computed Tomography Images

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Characterizing heterogeneity in reservoir rocks at the pore scale is crucial to understand the flow patterns better, and estimate reservoir petrophysical properties such as porosity and permeability. This study introduces multifractals as descriptors for

Noise Power Characteristics of a Micro–Computed Tomography System [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 2017
The aim of this study was to investigate the noise power properties of a micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) system under different operating conditions.A commercial micro-CT was used in the study that used a flat panel detector with a 127-μm-pixel pitch and a micro-focus x-ray tube.

Use of Micro-Computed Tomography for Bone Evaluation in Dentistry [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Dental Journal, 2018
Abstract Micro computed tomography (µCT) follows the same principle of computed-tomography used for patients, however providing higher-resolution. Using a non-destructive approach, samples can be scanned, and each section obtained is used to build a volume using tridimensional reconstruction.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Application of micro‐CT to resolve textural properties and assess primary sedimentary structures of deep‐marine sandstones

open access: yesThe Depositional Record
Over the past decade, there has been growing interest in the sedimentological community to use micro X‐ray computed tomography to analyse microfacies in sediment cores.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Intraradicular dentinal changes following fiber postremoval: Micro-computed tomography analysis

open access: yesContemporary Clinical Dentistry, 2023
Context: Excessive dentine wear during postremoval can occur due to the adhesion between the cement and the post. Aim: The aim is to evaluate dentine wear and microcrack occurrence following the removal of intraradicular fiberglass posts that were ...
