S‐Nitrosothiols as Thiol‐Protecting Groups for Controlled Thiol‐Maleimide Crosslinking of Homogeneous Soft Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Rapid thiol‐maleimide addition frequently outpaces mixing, resulting in heterogeneous hydrogels. S‐nitrosothiols act as thiol‐protecting groups, allowing uniform mixing with maleimide‐functionalized polymers before gelation. Sodium thiosulfate or sodium ascorbate then regenerates thiols on demand, triggering controlled thiol‐maleimide crosslinking ...

Simulation of Micro–EDM Servomotor for Machining Micro Pits on Hip Implant

open access: yesJurnal Teknologi, 2013
Metal–on–metal articulation of hip implant suffers from friction due to the moving metal surface. Thus it would shorten the lifespan of the joint. One of the significant current discussions in biomedical field is to reduce the friction between the articulations surface.

Morphological Characterization of Spherulites in Silk‐Polycaprolactone Mixtures: Implications for Textured Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Blending silk fibroin with polycaprolactone alters crystalline organization and surface morphology. Low fibroin levels promote ring‐banded spherulites, while higher contents generate porous, pit‐like textures, though overall crystallinity remains unchanged. Solvent evaporation further modulates surface patterns.

Remarks on the evolution and performance of the different austenite morphologies at the simulated HAZs of a 2205 duplex stainless steel

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2019
Some features of the austenite micro structural evolution have been reviewed at the simulated HAZs (Heat Affected Zones) in a duplex stainless steel. The evolution of the different morphological forms of austenite was quantified in the microstructures ...

Hierarchical Multi‐Material Architectures With Gradient Design for Dynamic‐Range Flexible Tactile Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hierarchical multi‐material TPMS lattices are engineered as flexible tactile sensors by combining soft and stiff elastomeric layers with a conformal conductive coating. The bilayer architecture delivers sensitivity at low pressures while maintaining a broad detectable range under large loads, enabling reliable pressure and vibration monitoring for ...

Pulse Power Generator Design for Machining Micro–pits on Hip Implant

open access: yesJurnal Teknologi, 2013
Machining micro–pits on hip implant for lubrication purpose is the most effective way to minimize wear as well as prolong the lifespan of the hip implant. Several works on designing Pulse Power Generator for machining micro–pits has been conducted but suffer from micro crack.

Multilayer Biobased Poly(ethylene furanoate)/Graphene Oxide Nanofibrous Membranes With Directional Water Transport for Efficient Microplastics Filtration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A self‐assembled multilayer biobased PEF/GO nanofibrous membrane was developed by electrospinning for efficient PLA microplastics (MPs) filtration. The membrane combines superhydrophilicity, directional water transport, mechanical robustness, and a synergistic size‐exclusion interception and electrostatic repulsion MPs separation mechanism, enabling ...

WS2 Micro‐Dome Single Photon Source in a Tunable Open Cavity

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, a single‐photon source based on WS2 micro‐domes is realized and integrated into an open, tunable optical microcavity. Single‐photon emission from the coupled emitter–cavity system is observed. Detailed analysis shows that a pronounced acoustic phonon emission sideband contributes specifically to the non‐resonant emitter–cavity coupling in

The trade-off between wear and corrosion performance in WC/W2C reinforced laser powder bed fusion duplex stainless steel composites

open access: yesMaterials & Design
The broader application of laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) processed 2205 duplex stainless steel (DSS) is often limited by its wear resistance and pitting corrosion performance. To address this, two types of WC/W2C reinforcing particles—small irregular (1–
