Implementation of Microstructural Material Phenomena in Macro Scale Simulations of Forming Processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The paper deals with problems related to full/macro scale simulations of industrial forming processes. Large-scale numerical simulations and virtual modeling are replacing prototypes in order to reduce costs and time.

A Review on Micro- to Nanocellulose Biopolymer Scaffold Forming for Tissue Engineering Applications

open access: yesPolymers, 2020
Biopolymers have been used as a replacement material for synthetic polymers in scaffold forming due to its biocompatibility and nontoxic properties. Production of scaffold for tissue repair is a major part of tissue engineering.

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Generation of micro channels in AlMg4.5Mn0.7 sheets using a vibration-assisted micro forming process

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Micro forming can be used for a highly efficient manufacturing of small parts like screws or caps. Because of the small dimensions of the structures, high stresses and forming forces occur, especially in the case of micro bulk forming.

Non-close-packed breath figures via ion-partitioning-mediated self-assembly [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We report a one-step method of forming non-close-packed (NCP) pore arrays of micro- and sub-micropores using chloroform-based solutions of polystyrene acidified with hydrogen bromide for breath figure (BF) patterning.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Process and machine system development for the forming of miniature/micro sheet metal products [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper reports on the current development of the process for the forming of thin sheet-metal micro-parts (t < 50µm) and the corresponding machine system which is part of the research and technological development of an EU funded integrated project ...

Size effect on the springback of CuZn37 brass foils in tension and micro W-bending [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
With the ever-increasing demands on miniaturization, the requirement on good forming quality and high dimensional accuracy of micro parts is dramatically motivated.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...
