Exploring the Effect of Production Conditions of Chlorella minutissima on Its Pharmaceutical Potential: A Natural Source for Bioactive Compounds

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, Chlorella minutissima UTEX 234‐1 was produced under 12.43 μmol of photons m−2 s−1 (from the side surface, I1), 23.29 μmol of photons m−2 s−1 (from the top surface, I2), and 62.14 μmol of photons m−2 s−1 (from the top surface, I3) in BG‐11 medium (B1).

Methane Generation Using an Anaerobic Biodigester From Waste Leachate Water

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Leachate wastewater (LWW) is characterized by slow biodegradation and low biogas production due to resistant materials and limited biological activity. Therefore, applying pretreatments is essential to improving biodegradation potential, which consequently boosts energy recovery.

Saussurea involucrata SiLEA5 Enhances Tolerance to Drought Stress in Solanum lycopersicum

open access: yesFoods
Drought adversely affects plant growth, which leads to reduced crop yields and exacerbates food insecurity. Late embryogenesis abundant (LEA) proteins are crucial for plants’ responses to abiotic stresses.

Dual Functions of Dietary Rubber Seed Oil Supplementation: Enriching N‐3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and Enhancing Antioxidant Capacity in Pekin Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Dietary RSO supplementation improved growth performance, simultaneously enriched n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n‐3 PUFA), and enhanced antioxidant capacity in Pekin ducks, which suggested that RSO has the potential to be a novel n‐3 PUFA source and an antioxidant for Pekin ducks to generate animal functional foods.

Enhanced Production of Astaxanthin and Zeaxanthin by Paracoccus Sp. LL1 Through Random Mutagenesis

open access: yesBiotechnology and Applied Biochemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Astaxanthin, a high‐value carotenoid with potent antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory activities, is increasingly in demand in various industries. This study reports the successful enhancement of astaxanthin and zeaxanthin production in Paracoccus sp. LL1 through random mutagenesis using ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS).

Toxicological Investigations on the Sea Urchin Tripneustes gratilla (Toxopneustidae, Echinoid) from Anaho Bay (Nuku Hiva, French Polynesia): Evidence for the Presence of Pacific Ciguatoxins

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2018
The sea urchin Tripneustes gratilla (Toxopneustidae, Echinoids) is a source of protein for many islanders in the Indo-West Pacific. It was previously reported to occasionally cause ciguatera-like poisoning; however, the exact nature of the causative ...
