Smart Antibacterial Coatings: Harnessing Bacterial Redox Activity for Infection Control

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
In this study, we have shown that ceftazidime‐loaded poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT@CAZ) functions as a smart, redox‐responsive antibacterial coating that couples bacterial electrical activity with localized antibiotic delivery. Shewanella oneidensis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa induced distinct redox responses in PEDOT, reflecting their ...

Dental Microwear Texture Analysis on Radular Teeth

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
3D microwear textures reveal how gastropod radular teeth respond to controlled abrasive contact. Distinct surface signatures distinguish regular abrasion from fracture‐dominated material removal, showing how mineralized coatings, fibrous cores, and substrate properties jointly shape wear and failure in a biological scraping interface.

Microbial Counts of Selected Hot-Boned Primals and Ground Beef

open access: yesJournal of Food Protection, 1987
Twenty-four dairy cows were slaughtered under commercial conditions, muscles were excised from one side within 3 h of slaughter and from the second side after 24 h chill at 3°C. Surface aerobic bacterial plate counts, (APC5, 20, and 35°C, that is, plates were incubated at 5, 20 and 35°C, respectively) obtained from the rounds immediately before ...

Early detection and differentiation of microbial spoilage of bread using electronic nose technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This study investigated the potential for use of electronic noses (e-noses) for early rapid detection and differentiation of bread spoilage before visible signs of growth occur.

3D‐Printed Corneal Substitutes: Materials, Fabrication, and Preclinical Progress

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Successful clinical translation of 3D‐printed corneal substitutes relies on the interplay between the bioink properties, cellular component, and the fabrication process. These factors influence the critical properties of the construct, including optical transparency, mechanical stability, suture retention, that ultimately govern long‐term stromal ...
