Elucidation and Regulation of Polyphenols in the Smoking Process of Shanxi Aged Vinegar
Polyphenols (PPs) are the main contributors to the health functions of Shanxi aged vinegar (SAV) and are mainly produced during the smoking process. This study aimed to explore the feasibility of regulating the accumulation of total water-soluble PPs ...

Betaine, organic acids and inulin do not affect ileal and total tract nutrient digestibility or microbial fermentation in piglets [PDF]
The study was conducted to investigate the effects of betaine alone or combined with organic acids and inulin on ileal and total tract nutrient digestibilities and intestinal microbial fermentation characteristics in piglets.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

The microbiome in human skin aging
Age‐related skin changes encompass the well‐known visible phenotypic alterations, together with microbiome dysbiosis and a series of molecular aging hallmarks. These hallmarks characterize not only a fully stablished aged phenotype but also the skin aging process itself.

Effect of Direct-Fed Microbials on Rumen Microbial Fermentation
Nonbacterial, direct-fed microbials added to ruminant diets generally consist of Aspergillus oryzae fermentation extract, or Saccharomyces cerevisiae cultures, or both. Results from in vivo research have been variable regarding effects of direct-fed microbials on ruminant feedstuff utilization and performance.

Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.
