Natural Products Inhibit Bacterial Growth and Modulate Quorum‐Sensing Systems Las and Rhl in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PA14

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 22, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Quorum sensing (QS) is a bacterial cell communication system in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which regulates the production of several virulence factors, including pyocyanin, exoproteases, and biofilm formation. Natural products (NPs) have demonstrated their ability to control QS in different bacteria. This work evaluated the antimicrobial and anti‐

Broad Protection against Invasive Fungal Disease from a Nanobody Targeting the Active Site of Fungal β‐1,3‐Glucanosyltransferases

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 136, Issue 34, August 19, 2024.
Nanobodies show promise in treating invasive fungal diseases such as aspergillosis and cryptococcosis. By selectively targeting enzymes critical for fungal cell wall remodeling, these single‐domain antibodies significantly enhanced survival rates in animal models.

Discrimination of the chemotherapy resistance status of human leukemia and glioblastoma cell lines by MALDI-TOF-MS profiling

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Chemotherapy mistreatment is partially due to a lack of rapid and reliable tools to discriminate between sensitive and resistant phenotypes. In many cases, the resistance mechanism is not fully understood, contributing to the diagnostic tools' absence ...

Role of Nodulation-Enhancing Rhizobacteria in the Promotion of Medicago sativa Development in Nutrient-Poor Soils

open access: yesPlants, 2022
Legumes are usually used as cover crops to improve soil quality due to the biological nitrogen fixation that occurs due to the interaction of legumes and rhizobia. This symbiosis can be used to recover degraded soils using legumes as pioneer plants.

Amphiphile‐Assisted Synthesis of Ruthenium Nanoparticles for Controlled Release and Enhanced Antibacterial Activity

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 9, Issue 12, December 1, 2025.
A novel synthesis of Ruthenium nanoparticles (RuNPs) based on amphiphiles and Ru(III) complexes as antibacterial agents with controlled release properties has been developed. Post‐synthesis modification of the RuNPs with PEG molecular staples enables controlled Ru release, reducing the burst effect.

An Unexpected Facet of Extremophiles: Their Aesthetic Potential in Artistic Expression

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 18, Issue 10, October 2025.
In an era marked by environmental challenges and the proliferation of misinformation, the fusion of art and science is a strategy to promote public understanding and appreciation of complex scientific phenomena. We illustrate how the use of extremophiles offers novel avenues for artistic exploration and emphasise the benefits of such interdisciplinary ...
