Salbutamol sulphate is a sympathomimetic amine having a rather short plasma half-life. Aiming to achieve sustained release of this drug through microencapsulation, the coacervation method with a 1:1 core-shell ratio was used. In vitro release rate experiments were performed on the microcapsules prepared using ethyl cellulose as the coating agent and ...

A system of nomenclature is proposed whereby microcapsules are named after their 'core', 'wall' or 'both core and wall', as may be desired. The proposed nomenclature provides short descriptive names, and eliminates the need for lengthy phrases often used in the microencapsulation literature.

SummaryPhotosensitive microcapsules that reversibly switch upon visible light irradiation are attractive targets for drug delivery, fragrance release and pesticide delivery. In this study we report the development of visible light triggered microcapsules and demonstrate the concept of protection and remote release of a model, non‐toxic perfume oil ...

Simple methods have been developed for encapsulating aqueous solutions of protein within polymer membranes. Stable microcapsules 1 to 100 μ in diameter, with semipermeable membranes, can be made by depositing polymer around emulsified aqueous droplets, either by interfacial coacervation or by interfacial polycondensation.
