Permeation of Macromolecules into Polyelectrolyte Microcapsules

Biomacromolecules, 2002
Polyelectrolyte microcapsules (PEMCs) have been prepared by coating red blood cells with the polyelectrolytes poly(styrenesulfonate), poly(allylamine hydrochloride), and dextran sulfate applying the layer-by-layer technique with subsequent dissolution of the core.

Superlubricity Microcapsules

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces
Superlubricity, a lubricating state in which the coefficient of friction (COF) is smaller than 0.01, has been achieved at the macroscale in a variety of aqueous solutions and oils, as well as two-dimensional (2D) and carbon materials; nevertheless, it has been rarely realized with polymer composites.

Polymer Microcapsules with “Foamed” Membranes

Langmuir, 2007
This article describes the preparation of capsules displaying craters at their surfaces and independent holes inside their membranes. These poly(methylmethacrylate) capsules of 20 to 200 microm diameter are prepared by a solvent evaporation process and typically contain a dispersant, polyvinyl alcohol, and an excipient, namely, a fatty acid ...

Ibuprofen Microcapsules: the Effect of Production Variables on Microcapsule Properties

Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 1994
Ibuprofen was microencapsulated with ethylcellulose using the solvent evaporation method. The effect of production variables on the properties of the microcapsules and drug release from them is described. Results show that size distribution, drug loading and the amount of free drug on the surface of the microcapsules is affected by production variables.

Ultrathin Antibiotic Walled Microcapsules

Biomacromolecules, 2004
Ultrathin microcapsules comprised of anionic polyelectrolytes (PE) and a polycationic aminoglycoside (AmG) antibiotic drug were prepared by depositing PE/AmG multilayers on zinc oxide (ZnO) colloid particles using the layer-by-layer self-assembly technique and subsequently dissolving the ZnO templated cores. The polyelectrolytes, dextran sulfate sodium

In vitro and in vivo studies on microcapsules and tabletted microcapsules of cephradine.

Die Pharmazie, 1997
Cephradine was microencapsulated by coacervation. Ethyl cellulose was used as the polymer and a core/wall ratio of 1:1 was selected. The repose angle, apparent and tapped density, particle size distribution of cephradine microcapsules (CM) and of cephradine powder were examined.

Nanodeformations of microcapsules

2022
The mechanical properties of proteinaceous and composite microcapsules loaded with oil were measured by SFM and evaluated using the Reissner model. Comparison of the obtained results reveals significantly higher Young's moduli of protein capsules due to intermolecular crosslinking.

Microcapsules for new animal drugs

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 1984
Microencapsulation techniques have been developed and refined for many years. However, in recent years, great strides have been made in controlling the microcapsule size down to the nanometer range when necessary. Progress has also been made in controlling the ratio of wall/capsule and the distribution of microcapsule diameter size in the batching of ...

Characterization of Microcapsules

2004
The encapsulation of mammalian cells has been a topic of intensive research, if not since Chang’s pioneering work [1], certainly after Sun showed long-term normoglycaemia in diabetic rats [2] by immunoisolating xenotransplanted islets in a semipermeable polymeric membrane.
