Programming Nonlinear Interfacial Mechanics of Synthetic Cells: Lipid Geometry and DNA Nanostructures

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 6, Issue 6, June 2026.
A physics‐based framework is developed to quantify the nonlinear interfacial mechanics of synthetic cells. By integrating micropipette aspiration experiments with analytical modeling, the study reveals how lipid geometry and DNA nanostructure dimensionality independently control in‐plane stretching and out‐of‐plane bending mechanics.

Predator–Microbe Dynamics Inform Strategies for Robust Synthetic Community Assembly

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 28, Issue 6, June 2026.
This Review introduces ecological principles of predator–prey interactions as a new dimension in SynCom design. By linking microbial defence traits, encounter dynamics, and adaptive buffering, it outlines a framework for constructing predator‐resistant synthetic communities with enhanced resilience, stability, and functional performance under natural ...
