Recoilless Fraction in Microcrystals
Physical Review B, 1970The recoilless fraction $f$ in monoatomic microcrystals is calculated from a lattice-dynamical model. Its dependence on the physical boundary conditions at the surfaces of the crystallites is shown to follow the rule that $f$ increases with increasing stiffness of the binding to the surrounding medium.

Nonlinearities of CuCl Microcrystals
physica status solidi (b), 1990AbstractUsing a “pump and probe” technique, a strong blue shift and a bleaching is measured of the Z3 excitonic absorption line of CuCl microcrystallites embedded in glass. These effects are attributed to exciton exciton‐interactions. They show a response time shorter than the nanosecond. This seems to be mainly due to a fast non‐radiative decay of the

The Microcrystal Melting Transition
Molecular Simulation, 1988Abstract Metropolis Monte Carlo simulations of the melting transition of Lennard-Jones microcrystals confined to spherical cavities are reported. While 13 atom microcrystals melt continuously, larger microcrystals containing 201 and 209 atoms exhibit a first-order-like freezing transition to an HCP structure.

Emergent nanotherapies in microcrystal-induced arthritis
International Immunopharmacology, 2018The anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects of nanoparticles in several chronic diseases have been extensively researched. The aim of this review is to examine how nanoparticles modulate the inflammatory pathways that characterize the most prevalent forms of microcrystal-induced arthritis, including gout, pseudogout, and BCP-induced arthritis ...

Hybridized Microcrystals Composed of Metal Fine Particles and π-Conjugated Organic Microcrystals
Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2001We have successfully prepared hybridized microcrystals composed of polydiacetylene microcrystals and silver fine particles by means of the co-reprecipitation method, and investigated their hybridized structure and optical properties. It was revealed experimentally for the first time that the core domain of metal fine particles may interact ...

Morphology of ZnO microcrystals
Journal of Crystal Growth, 1977Abstract The morphology of small ZnO crystals, formed by anodic electrocrystallization of a zinc substrate, has been examined via scanning electron microscopy. The general morphology is observed to consist of a network array of discrete single crystal plates.

Protein-coated microcrystals (PCMC) are a high-activity preparation of enzymes for use in low-water media. The protocols for the preparation of PCMCs of Subtilisin Carlsberg and Candida antarctica lipase B (CAL B) are described. The combi-PCMC concept is useful both for cascade and non-cascade reactions.

Voltammetry of azobenzene microcrystals
Journal of Solid State Electrochemistry, 1997Azobenzene solid particles have been mechanically attached to a graphite electrode and measured by cyclic staircase voltammetry. Well-developed and widely separated chatodic and anodic peak were observed. Redox reaction is controlled by both the heterogeneous charge transfer kinetics and the mass transfer.

Wannier exciton in microcrystals
Solid State Communications, 1986Abstract A simple variational calculation is presented of the ground state properties of the electron-hole system confined in three-dimensional quantum wells with spherical shape. As the radius of the wall is reduced to a few times the effective Bohr radius of the bulk exciton, the character of the ground state changes abruptly but continuously from ...
