Flip-chip distributed MEMS transmission lines (DMTLs) for biosensing applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Design and characterization of a flip-chip distributed MEMS transmission line (DMTL) are presented. The concept of using this DMTL as a biosensor is then introduced. Radio frequency experiments on the DMTL loaded with biosamples have been conducted using

Micromachines – An Open Access Journal on Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) [PDF]

open access: yesMicromachines, 2010
When I joined a course on microsensors given by Steve Senturia, Martin Schmidt, and Roger Howe at MIT in 1988, I saw the first video of the earliest rotating silicon micromotor. It was the beginning of a high-time of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS): everything we did was new [1], and the MEMS community was sure that we not only reached a new ...

Multibit Ferroelectric HfZrO Memcapacitor for Non‐Volatile Analogue Memory and Reconfigurable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 37, 7 May 2026.
Ferroelectric memcapacitors enable non‐volatile, voltage‐programmable capacitance tuning for adaptive electronics. A TiN/HfZrO/TiN device stack demonstrates more than eight stable capacitance states within a 24 pF memory window in compact 60 ×$\times$ 60 μm2$\umu{\rm m}^{2}$ devices at low operating voltages.

Detection of Toxic Gases and Volatile Organic Compounds Using Highly Adsorptive Nanomaterials: A Comprehensive Assessment

open access: yesEcoMat, Volume 8, Issue 5, May 2026.
This review highlights how nanomaterials with high adsorption capacities including carbon‐based structures, transition metal oxides, 2D layers, and zeolites enable sensitive and selective detection of toxic gases and VOCs. Their tailored properties and sensing mechanisms drive the development of next‐generation gas sensors for environmental and ...

Optoelectronic support for Inertial Navigation Systems [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electronics and Telecommunications
Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS)-based inertial navigation units are widely utilized due to their low cost, small form factor, and low power consumption. However, they face critical limitations in high-speed rotating systems due to gyroscopic drift,

Microfabrication of palladium-silver alloy membranes for hydrogen separation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In this paper, a process for the microfabrication of a wafer-scale palladium-silver alloy membrane (Pd-Ag) is presented. Pd-Ag alloy films containing 23 wt% Ag were prepared by co-sputtering from pure Pd and Ag targets.
