Microfacies of Wabash reef, Wabash, Indiana

Journal of Sedimentary Research, 1959
Abstract The microscopic statistical investigation of the Wabash reef has revealed 5 main microfacies ranging, in decreasing relative depth conditions, from highly dolomitic shales of the country-rock to dolomitic biocalcarenites and bioconstructed dolomitic limestone or dolomites belonging to the reef system.

Microfacies Data: Fabrics

2004
Having discussed matrix and grain types of carbonate rocks in previous chapters, this chapter focuses on the fabrics constructed by rock constituents. The term fabric includes textural as well as structural criteria. Most fabrics reflect depositional controls or early diagenetic processes. This chapter starts with the description of common depositional

Microfacies Analysis: Methods

2009
This chapter summarizes field work studies, sampling strategies and laboratoy methods relevant to microfacies analysis. A precise field record of geological and paleontological data as well as sampling strategies that consider the vertical and lateral variations in these data are vital for the success of microfacies studies.

Microfacies Data: Matrix and Grains

2004
The purpose of this chapter is to outline and discuss the criteria used in the description of matrix and grains. Microfacies criteria reflected by fabrics and quantitative microfacies data are discussed in Chap. 5 and 6.

Petrography of Carbonates (Microfacies Association)

2013
The carbonate strata of the Moghra Formation represent a minor component of the studied rock succession. The carbonate facies are represented by fossiliferous limestones. Six distinct micro-facies (F) have been recognized: The most common micro-facies are mud-dominated packstone, quartz skeletal mud-dominated dolo-packstone, siliciclastic grain ...

Microfacies Analysis Assisting Archaeological Stratigraphy

2001
Accurate construction of archaeological stratigraphy has long been recognized as crucial in providing a solid chronocultural framework for discussing past behavioral activities and their linkages with geological processes (Gasche and Tunca, 1984; Harris, 1979).
