An Investigation of Refrigerant Void Fraction in Horizontal, Microfin Tubes [PDF]
A series of experiments to determine void fraction in both condensation and evaporation have been performed in horizontal microfin tubes with refrigerants R134a and R410A. Mass flux varied from 75 kg/m2·s to 700 kg/m2·s and average test section quality varied from 5% to 80%.

Heat transfer, pressure loss, and thermal performance assessment in a circular tube heat exchanger with modified‐twisted tapes are reported. The rectangular holes are punched out from the general twisted tape to reduce the pressure loss. The influences of the hole sizes (l/D, LR = 0.30, 0.44, 0.78, and 0.88) and twisted ratios (y/D, TR = 1, 1.5, 2, and

CFD investigation was carried out to study the heat transfer enhancement characteristics of air flow inside a circular tube with a partially decaying and partly swirl flow. Four combinations of tube with twisted‐tape inserts, the half‐length upstream twisted‐tape condition (HLUTT), the half‐length downstream twisted‐tape condition (HLDTT), the full ...

Modified theoretical models of film condensation in horizontal microfin tubes
The previously proposed theoretical models of film condensation in horizontal microfin tubes have been modified to describe the characteristics of condensing two-phase flow more accurately. The stratified flow regime and the annular flow regime were considered.

Micro‐thermophotovoltaic (MTPV) systems are a promising technology for converting heat to electricity, but optimizing radiation efficiency and combustor design remains challenging. This study addresses one of the key challenges in designing MTPV systems by enhancing the thermal performance such as radiation heat transfer efficiency of a hydrogen‐fueled

The correlation between pressure drop and Reynolds number for both the overlapping and separate airfoils considered in the present study. The pressure drop significantly reduced with the design of the overlapping airfoils. Abstract In this study, we numerically investigated the performance of a printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) featuring National ...
