Bioprocess microfluidics: applying microfluidic devices for bioprocessing
Scale-down approaches have long been applied in bioprocessing to resolve scale-up problems. Miniaturized bioreactors have thrived as a tool to obtain process relevant data during early-stage process development. Microfluidic devices are an attractive alternative in bioprocessing development due to the high degree of control over process variables ...

Real‐Time, Label‐Free Monitoring of Cell Behavior on a Bioelectronic Scaffold
A bioelectronic nanofibrous scaffold is introduced that supports cell growth while enabling real‐time, label‐free monitoring of cellular behavior through impedance measurements. The system correlates electrical signals with cell viability and surface coverage, offering an integrated platform for studying dynamic biological processes and advancing next ...

Metabolic Patterning on a Chip: Towards in vitro Liver Zonation of Primary Rat and Human Hepatocytes
An important number of healthy and diseased tissues shows spatial variations in their metabolic capacities across the tissue. The liver is a prime example of such heterogeneity where the gradual changes in various metabolic activities across the liver ...

This study presents a versatile approach to harnessing miscible aqueous domains, enabling liquid‐in‐liquid compartmentalization using a barrier formed in situ rather than bulk immiscibility. The barrier forms upon the complexation of multifunctional nanoparticles and ligands at the contact boundary of aqueous phases.
