The action of metabolic inhibitors on microgametogenesis in Plasmodium yoelii nigeriensis

Zeitschrift fr Parasitenkunde, 1977
Mature gametocytes of Plasmodium yoelii nigeriensis were incubated in vitro with a variety of antibiotics whose activities were directed against DNA, RNA, protein and microtubule assembly. Following incubation for periods between 5 and 90 min, exflagellation was induced and the degree of inhibition produced by each drug was assayed microscopically. The

Anther development, microsporogenesis and microgametogenesis in Heliconia (Heliconiaceae, Zingiberales)

Flora - Morphology, Distribution, Functional Ecology of Plants, 2007
Abstract Anther development, microsporogenesis and microgametogenesis in several species of Heliconia were investigated as part of a complementary embryological study of the Heliconiaceae. All studied Heliconia species present bithecate and tetrasporangiate anthers with fertile pollen grains; only H.

Fine structure of microgametogenesis ofBarroussia schneideri (Coccidia: Eimerriina) in the centipedeLithobius forficatus

Zeitschrift fr Parasitenkunde Parasitology Research, 1983
The ultrastructure of the microgamont and microgamete of the coccidianBarroussia schneideri was studied in the intestinal cells of the centipede,Lithobius forficatus. Microgamonts contained many mitochondria and extensive cisternae of granular endoplasmic reticulum closely associated with polysaccharide granules.

Ultrastructural observations of microgametogenesis in Eimeria bakuensis (Syn. E. ovina) of sheep

Parasitology Research, 1988
The ultrastructure of microgametogenesis of Eimeria bakuensis was studied in the intestinal epithelium of an experimentally infected sheep. During development the nuclei became situated peripherally in the microgamont. Nuclear chromatin condensed into peripheral, dense portions that became the nuclei of the microgametes.

Fine structural changes associated with microgametogenesis of Eimeria acervulina in chickens

Zeitschrift fr Parasitenkunde, 1973
The fine structure of the changes occurring during microgametogenesis and of the microgametes of Eimeria acervulina was studied in experimentally infected chickens. Early microgametocytes had relatively electron-transparent nuclei with few, scattered, dense masses. Micropores were seen at the surface of these microgametocytes. Intranuclear microtubules

Microgametogenesis in Plumbago zeylanica (Plumbaginaceae). 1. Descriptive Cytology and Three-Dimensional Organization

American Journal of Botany, 1996
The generative cell is initiated as a small, lenticular, unpolarized cell with a cell wall traceable to two origins: the external segment originates as intine, while an inner callose positive cell wall forms de novo. As the lenticular generative cell begins its migration into the pollen cytoplasm, the generative cell becomes polarized both externally ...

[Microsporogenesis y microgametogenesis de annatto (Bixa orellana L.)].

Acta cientifica venezolana, 2003
A series of buds of increasing maturity were individually sampled in order to examine cytological events of annatto (Bixa orellana L.), genotype Portuguesa. They were fixed in Carnoy II at 12:30 am, time of the highest rate of meiotic division. Three stain solutions were attempted.

Why are plastids maternally inherited in epilobium? Ultrastructural observations during microgametogenesis

Plant Science, 1987
We have investigated the sequential stages of microgametogenesis by electron microscopy, to determine the basis of maternal inheritance of plastids in Epilobium. The development of both the vegetative and generative cells has been followed using a semi-artificial growth system for pollen tubes.

Fine structure of microgametogenesis of Eimeria ferrisi Levine and Ivens 1965 in Mus musculus

Zeitschrift fr Parasitenkunde, 1977
The microgamogony of Eimeria ferrisi from experimentally infected mice was investigated with the electron microscope. Microgamonts were recognizable by the presence of peripherally arranged nuclei and the presence of single or paired centrioles between each nucleus and the limiting membrane of the parasite.

Autoradiographic and microphotometric studies of desoxyribose nucleic acid during microgametogenesis in lilium longiflorum

Chromosoma, 1953
1. The technique for making autoradiographs with stripping film is described in detail. Methods for administering P32 to plants and for preparation of tissues for autoradiographs are given. 2. Two different methods, enzyme digestion and acid hydrolysis, which were used for separating RNA, DNA, and phosphoprotein in tissue sections, were ...
