Microinjecting Cells Using a Pulsed-Flow Microinjection System

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2011
INTRODUCTIONThe efficient delivery of exogenous DNA to cells for expression and function studies is an essential technique of modern cell biology, and direct delivery of genetic material by microinjection remains a reliable means of transfection. A pulsed-flow microinjection system, such as the Eppendorf InjectMan and FemtoJet systems, permits a high ...

Microinjection of Protein Samples

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2007
INTRODUCTIONThis protocol describes a method for microinjecting proteins into the nucleus or cytoplasm of adherent cells. Microinjection equipment can be obtained from a number of suppliers; this protocol has been used with the Narishige IM-200 air pressure regulator and the Leitz micromanipulator.

Microinjection Methods for Neutrophils

2014
The ability to microinject substances into the cytosol of living neutrophils opens the possibility of manipulating the chemistry within the cell and also of monitoring changes using indicators which otherwise cannot be introduced into the cell. However, neutrophils cannot be microinjected by the conventional glass pipette insertion method.

Microinjection

2001
Abstract During recent decades, microinjection has developed into an important method used by cell biologists, and there have been several thousand papers published describing applications of this technique. The main advantage of microinjection is that it enables the direct introduction of substances into individual cells or ...

Challenges in capillary pressure microinjection

The 26th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2005
Capillary pressure microinjection is a popular method for the delivery of samples into cells. Needs for automatic reliable microinjection systems are growing, but the current systems do not possess ideal characteristics and many researchers do not even recognize the limits of the current systems.

Single-Cell Microinjection Technologies

2012
Single-cell microinjection, as a mechanical delivery tool, has been used for transferring substances into transfection or infection challenging cells. Here, we discuss the advantages and applications of microinjection, list the materials needed for performing microinjection experiments, and describe the methods of single-cell microinjection into ...

Microinjection into crane-fly spermatocytes

Biochemistry and Cell Biology, 1993
We were successful in microinjecting fluorescently labelled material into crane-fly spermatocytes. In our experiments, we obtained four results. (i) In most attempts, the membrane stretched around the micropipette and prevented entry of fluorescent material, even when the micropipette appeared to be pushed completely through the cell.

Microinjection of Mouse Eggs

Science, 1966
A technique has been developed for injecting known amounts of liquids into fertilized one-celled mouse eggs by use of a calibrated ocular micrometer superimposed on the terminal regions of the injection pipette. From 128 pronuclear eggs, each injected with 180 or 770 cubic microns of bovine gamma globulin at a concentration of 25 milligrams per ...

Plating Cells for Microinjection

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2006
INTRODUCTIONThis protocol describes a method for plating cells for microinjection onto etched coverslips. The coverslips for microinjection must be marked so that microinjected cells can be identified at time points after injection. A procedure for etching coverslips is given below; alternatively, pre-etched coverslips can be purchased at slightly ...
