An analytical and experimental study of crack extension in center-notched composites [PDF]

open access: yes
The normal stress ratio theory for crack extension in anisotropic materials is studied analytically and experimentally. The theory is applied within a microscopic-level analysis of a single center notch of arbitrary orientation in a unidirectional ...

Filling a Gap in Materials Mechanics: Nanoindentation at High Constant Strain Rates up to 105 s−1

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A piezoelectric nanoindentation platform enables constant strain‐rate testing up to 105 s−1, extending experimental capabilities to extreme deformation regimes. Distinct hardness upturns are revealed across crystalline and amorphous materials, verified as intrinsic responses through quasi‐static reloading.

About the Ageing‐Induced Modifications of Physical‐Chemical and Electrical Properties of Polyimide (PMDA‐ODA) Under Gamma Radiation and High Temperatures

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the effects of radiation‐induced ageing on the physical, chemical, mechanical and electrical properties of Poly[4,4′‐oxydiphenylene‐ pyromellitimide] (PMDA‐ODA) polyimide, a high‐performance insulation material widely used in aerospace applications.

Residual Cement Excess of Composite Versus Glass Ionomer Cement in Implant‐Supported Single Crowns After Different Intraoral Exposure Times—A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

open access: yesClinical Oral Implants Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the frequency and quantity of residual cement after cementation of monolithic zirconia crowns with glass ionomer or resin composite cement on customized ceramic abutments, following different intraoral retention times. The influence of margin location, quadrant and implant region was also assessed.

Adhesion of Newly Developed Composite Resin Splinting Materials to Enamel: Effect of Enamel Surface Treatment

open access: yesDental Traumatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Aim To evaluate the shear bond strength (SBS) of newly developed composite resin materials intended for dental splinting to enamel and to determine whether phosphoric acid etching alone provides reliable adhesion. Material and Methods Four experimental materials (G‐Fix, Light Fix, Ortho Connect, and Ortho Connect Flow) were compared

Fatigue behaviour of root filled teeth: The role of endodontic sealers and restorative techniques

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Oral Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract This in vitro study aimed to evaluate the fatigue behaviour of root canal treated teeth, filled with either AH Plus Jet (AHP) or AH Plus Bioceramic Sealer (AHPB) and rehabilitated with either mesio‐occlusal‐distal (MOD) restorations (direct resin composite) or endocrowns (indirect resin composite).

Influence of Airborne‐Particle Abrasion and Thermal Cycling on Enamel Bond Strength and Roughness of Lithium Disilicate Treated With a Self‐Etching Ceramic Primer

open access: yesJournal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This in vitro study investigated the effect of a self‐etching ceramic primer (Monobond Etch & Prime [MEP]), with or without aluminum oxide airborne‐particle abrasion, on the surface roughness, and microtensile bond strength (μTBS) of lithium disilicate bonded to enamel, compared with the conventional hydrofluoric acid plus silane (HF

Effect of surface treatments on the bond strength between additively manufactured or injection‐molded high‐performance polymers and titanium

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To investigate the effect of surface treatment and fabrication techniques of high‐performance polymers on their shear bond strength (SBS) to grade IV titanium. Materials and Methods A total of 120 pre‐milled titanium abutments were sectioned.
